Description Welcome omni-planetary travellers and inter-dimensional voyagers to Y’Lutrias, the underwater utopia of the marine mammal species: The Y’Lutrian!

History:

Y’Lutrias is a coral-reef infested water planet from the Whirlpool Galaxy (a rather fitting place since the Y’lutrian can generate whirlpools), and is known to be one of the most beautiful water planets in the universe. At first, the Y’Lutrian were a simple race of hunters and survivalists that were quite happy with the quiet life, until one day several large fragments of a crystal that could store cosmic energy fell from space onto their home world, sinking into the deep sea where the Y’lutrian lived, with the largest chunk on the highest underwater mountain on Y’lutrias, Mount Sargas, came to rest.

The Y'Lutrian learned to use this energy; their technological development took a big step forward, allowing them to build a utopia and rule as the dominant species of their world. They christened the crystals “Bermudian Sea Crystals” because the cosmic energy contained within them had the strongest energy output when submerged in water. The Y’Lutrian monarchy had dedicated their lives to protect the largest sea crystal that gave their people the energy needed to advance. As such, they constructed a magnificent palace on Mount Sargas, surrounding the massive sea crystal.

Society:

The Y’Lutrian are wary around off-worlders - there have been more than a few pirates trying to plunder Y’Lutrias of their Bermudian Sea Crystals over the centuries!

Once a year the Y’Lutrian will hold a 7 day festival to celebrate the arrival of their treasured Bermudian Sea Crystals. One of the festivities is a concert called “The Summoning”, in which a choir of female Y’Lutrians gather in the grounds of the royal palace at midnight and together, with the Y’lutrian High Queen in the lead, they sing a hauntingly beautiful vocal song that for reasons unknown cause the Bermudian Sea Crystals to glow brightly in the dark depths of their ocean. Any off-worlder who hears their song either feels like their in dreamy wonderment, or deeply uneasy depending on the moods of the Y’Lutrian females! Many superstitious off-worlders thought that this song was sung by the ghosts of young women who lost their lives in the ocean before realizing that it came from the Y’Lutrian choir!

In the Y’Lutrian monarchy the first born is usually crowned ruler of the planet, although there have been times where the first born relinquishes the crown to their younger sibling if they have one. If the current king and queen give birth to twins however, the twins will both be crowned rulers when they come of age and once either twin marries and has a first born during their rule, then that first born will be handed the crown once he/she comes of age! The child of the current ruler would spend his/her adulthood working at respected occupations, only assuming the mantle os Y’Lutrias’ High King/Queen when the current one retires. The current queen is Nokama, who was only a little girl when handed the position by her father thanks to his critical health. She had never nursed any dreams of becoming a queen. She had wished to become a teacher in Y’Lutrias, gaining new wisdom each day and passing it on to others. Her happiest moments had been spent in a classroom or showing her classmates the ancient carvings of the history of their civilization’s growth.

That was years ago, now Queen Nokama has grown into a beautiful Y’Lutrian woman with the moniker: “Queen Nokama the Wise”, where she has dedicated herself to leading her people and guiding the Y’Lutrian youth with her wisdom, including her own twin daughters: Princess L’Naah and Princess L’Laah! While Queen Nokama is very wary about traveling outside of her home world, she is highly curious about the other worlds in the Whirlpool Galaxy and others! Her children share the same fascination, but they’re keen on actually visiting worlds instead of learning about them from the comforts of home like their mother!
