A little over 5 months ago I had memorized the Anglo Saxon runes and used them for really mundane things, like taking notes and stuff. In this process I learned people don't even try to decipher them, even when they look almost identical to the latin alphabet.
Thus I cheated on many a test by having a ton of things from the study guide right next to me.

Why do you oppose them so firmly? As far as I know, as they are made of natural materials they are fine. Moreover, I own a set made from stones by a friend and I have good experience with them.

Ah. The traditional runes were carved on slats of wood. The Norse term, to refer to a rune expert of my acquaintance, was to "cut runes," and referred to creating the runes from wood by cutting the symbols with either a chisel or a knife. In many ways, I am a traditionalist.
Now as far as other people, if you like the stone runes, then by all means use them. I have always believed that if it works then it should be used. Just because I loathe them is no reason for you to abandon them.
