Description Took approximately 16hrs.
This is for a wonderful competition running at the moment. [link]

It is my first contest regarding this, I hope I put enough work into it! Anyway! When I read the lyrics to "Somewhere only we know" I thought of this scene. If he ever visited it in his saddest moments.

It's A3 sized.

Using the lyrics of Keanes 'Somewhere Only We Know'.

The images used where from screen caps of Doctor Who both show and pictures taken during filming.
The Jacket was used from [link] here.
Photography of the beach are real advertisement pics of Southerndown beach (DΓ₯rlig Ulv-Stranden).
Made the sun myself as well as the silhouettes and shadows.
The entire work has been re-touched painted, edited cropped, cut skewed, etc etc that very little remains of the original footage.

BBC owns Doctor Who.

UPDATE- Edited light outside and inside

UPDATE- Added Sun

UPDATE-Worked on shadows and re-coloured sand and re-positioned tennant

UPDATE-Worked on lighting on the font and touched up with structure

UPDATE-Worked more with lighting.

Let me put in my two cents if you don't mind. If light is hitting the two figures from the front, hitting them on the shoulder (because they are looking at each other), the shadow would be doing that unless there is another light source that we do not see. The shadow should be directly on the other side of them going in the same direction towards the main figure.

The main light source is the sun. I know that the shadows really should be more or less diagonal but i needed a slight angle so that they wouldn't just disappear behind the main character.

I love the concept of this one, and the link of the song with this scene works really nicely!
Thank you so much, and good luck in the contest. :3

I only have one thing to note having seen this up close.
LIGHTING!!!

Well, that is, the lighting on the Doctor. The image you used for him is backlit, yet the greater light source in the image is proven to be the sun (otherwise the lighting on the text would be much brighter and the edging wouldn't be black.

Make an overlay/softlight layer and darken the center of his back, and then lighten the very edges of him, preferably with a yellow tint instead of a white.

It looks very strange as it kinda mixes with the sand, come over some time and try it.

Hrm *tries to think of something helpful* Maybe you could do something inside the TARDIS too as far as lights... Maybe if the "Somewhere only we know" was adapted to look more like "Police Public Call Box" [link]

kingtuter In reply to SylarSushiCat [2012-06-27 17:37:30 +0000 UTC]

I did that originally , but its very hard to find a good quality. Especially as I am working on A3 size. The best I could do was incorporate the lights on the inside with the font Thanks for the comment though, it is hugely appreciated

This is very nice Did you add the two people on the beach and their shadows? Cause I have some suggestions if you did :3 (i cant see this too well bcuz of the computer I'm using)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kingtuter In reply to CaprisunPepper [2012-06-27 13:16:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah made the people and shadows

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaprisunPepper In reply to kingtuter [2012-06-27 13:23:06 +0000 UTC]

okay, so what I would suggest is fade the edges of the long shadows a tiny bit and make the long shadows a tiny bit transparent, just enough to barely see the sand below it hope this helps

kingtuter In reply to CaprisunPepper [2012-06-27 13:25:09 +0000 UTC]
