Description I know I have backlog, but this is what I did while my computer was down--sketch and draw.

The Dress base (skirt) I got from a Bride's Magazine, but then I embellished and added a few design elements from Usagi's dress. Then I added the crown and veil.

I know Elios doesn't look that good. It's a sketch.

I also shot for something Takeuchi-sensei would likely design and pick.

Pretty! Are you going to color it?

It is a very nice sketch, but I think that the tiara crown needs to be smaller in size when you do the actual one. And if I remember correctly, Naoko also took Usagi's Princess Serenity dress from a wedding magazine as well.

Okay, but do you think you can make the pearls on this one a pink - there are pink pearls out there. It was a bit difficult to know where the hair and the pearls are.

The hair will be pink, the pearls white. Just like the manga which had the pearls always white and the hair blonde on Usagi.

Okay, now the other one may need to be changed either the hair color or the pearl color.... I did mention that it is a bit difficult to find the difference between the pearls and the hair. You might want to tint her hair a cotton candy pink so that is stays mostly silver but has the undertone of pink....

Not doing it, it would betray the series. I follow the manga rules. If you see Manga Volume cover 5, it was also mostly monochromatic in white with a strong purple background.. In graphic design there is something call Dominant subordinate. In this case, the pearls and tiara are not important. They NEED to sink to the background. If they stick out too much then they draw attention to themselves and in this case, the important part is the dress itself, and the design, not the crown or the hair or the jewels. If Takeuchi-sensei wanted to make the pearls more important she'd have tinted them yellow, but at white, and that small it shows that they are not that important. What do you see first? In the White dress with a white crown, white hair, white pearls, what you see first is the red, blue and yellow. ^_^ This makes the color scheme triadic--one of Takeuchi-sensei's favorite color schemes and one of her strongest. If I add pink then that destroys the color scheme.

I do not alter the series. I only follow canon and try to add to it as Takeuchi-sensei would. I'm a purist through and through with deep respect for the creators of the art I make fanart for.

Don't worry, I put particular thought to color scheme and dominant-subordinate emphasis. I was trained to think that way. If I do something, I usually put thought into it.

In the case of Queen Lady Serenity, I want her eyes to stand out so I can pull out the triadic color scheme.
