The character's background in the Star Wars Universe is mixed. He is half A'avi, from his mother's side (a created race for the purpose of the story within the Star Wars Universe) and half human from his father's side. Most of his facial features come from his A'avi side which is best described as an exotic race. There was some definite Native influence when creating the A'avi.
