I just like twerking outfits, ok?? Leave me alone.(All of you are potential victims. You've been warned.)
I have this weird thing (like a pet peeve, but not as angry? I don't know if pet peeves are necessarily angry, but they are certainly angrier than whatever my thing is) that makes me twitch when the borders of one part of an outfit match another part of the outfit which the borders are directly touching. Does that make ANY sense? Of course it doesn't.
But that's pretty much all that's changed for Carrie. Oh, and her tights are now leggings and her boots are different plus I changed her gloves. But other than that, everything is the same, yes.
EXCEPT FOR THE COLORS, I played with them too. They're more vibrant, so she won't fade into the background. (Because that wouldn't match her hyperactive personality very well.)
AND THEN THERE'S CARY. Cary's ghost outfit seems a bit too dress-like for a super hero. So his long top has been trimmed and made to fit like spandex (and anyone who doesn't appreciate spandex on a yummy boy is lame). Boots and gloves have been altered to match Carrie's. Plus he has a new hairdo. It's more like Carrie's with the bangs, and his ponytail in the back is now a cowlick (since most boys don't wear ponytails - unless their hair is RIDICULOUSLY LONG HOLY COW).
I'm just going to draw everyone's fancharacter fuck it (except probably not because I am terrible with big projects sorry)

It's a minor difference! I kept the highlights the same and increased the contrast on the base colors. They're less pale now, but yeah they're basically the same.

I always make a note while drawing to avoid same-color-touching. And if I need to erase a part of the outfit because of that, THEN BY GOLLY, I DO.
omg I felt like Cary was a total babe in hiding, and no one could see past his top (which was totes covering up the goods, dayum.) I COULD /NOT/ LET THIS HAPPEN.

Thank you!! Somehow Dani's doesn't bother me as much, possibly because her pants don't have a single band but an interesting design thing. The single-band-outline thing is what kills me haha
Which I think has something to do with my thought process of "how well could this be animated?" Most people add little bits of color here, there, everywhere PLUS random accesories, complicated outfit designs, etc. Which is fine for fanart, really, because it won't be animated (at least not professionally), but I still have that nagging voice in the back of my head saying "it would really suck to have to color in that ONE border, especially if it's the same color as his/her pants/shirt/whatever."
AND SPEAKING OF DANI (man, I'm on a roll with this comment; let's go for the gold), since she's such a minor character (and the creator's knew this), they were obviously more lenient with the details. They really made her outfit ~spicy~ in comparison to Danny's modest suit, but they knew she wouldn't be a recurring character so they could afford the extra flare.
IT'S REALLY FUN TO GET INSIDE ANIMATOR'S MINDS, I THINK.
(Brittany just really likes cartoons/animation and studying them and analyzing them and yes she will type your brains out so just tell her to stop ok? ok.)

DO IT. I think the best way to learn how to draw cartoons with life (besides studying anatomy which, believe it or not, helps A TON) is to analyze the shows you watch. There's a reason these artists got their ideas published; learn from them!!

Thank you! Little details can be fun, but should be used sparingly AND be well-thought out. (Just look at Danny, my gosh. He has the most modest superhero getup. His emblem was a bit of a design splurge, but it works well, hence its introduction!) But to be fair, I think the rules can and should be broken in the context of fanart haha GO DETAIL CRAZY ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
Just saying, but if you HAVE the chance, ALWAYS PUT YOUR MEN IN SPANDEX. WHY WOULD YOU PURPOSEFULLY IGNORE SUCH OPPORTUNITY???

oooh that same color touching on different clothing pieces? I hate it too. The inner artist in me twitches because FUCK I was taught to avoid that and whenever I see it, I want to fix it
ANYWAY this Carrie looks much better than the original design (sorry Chris is you're reading this!) it flows nicely. Same with Cary and I agree that his outfit is too girly and the thing about his little ponytail...yeah. It's better off as a cowlick.
