please don't go, I'll eat you whole, I love you so, I love you soI've been putting ridiculous hours in at work and also on a commission piece (my first ever!!). Two hours ago, I opened up the commission to work on it... then closed on it and doodled this instead. I've come to realize that the best way for me to unwind is to draw Terry McGinnis. I was listening to a song that got me thinking about the (fairly unhealthy) relationship Batmen have with Gotham City. I wanted to kind of play with the idea of Gotham as her own character, always pulling her boys back in...
Now that this is out of my system, it's back to the commission!

So wonderful to see more of your Batman Beyond works! I wonder, have you ever drawn Terry as an adult, like he was during the Justice League Unlimited episode Epilogue?

Thank you so much! And no, I have yet to draw the Epilogue version of Terry! I loved that episode, but I wasn't too sure about his adult appearance... it feels very... Elvis? Haha! Maybe I'll give it a shot someday!

Not a bad way to unwind at all! (Initially I started to type "bat way," then caught myself and stopped before I could be bricked for unintended puns.) Terry's probably one of the best muses a person can have, and you definitely do him justice in your depictions of him. Out of curiosity, may I ask which song it was that you were listening to that got you thinking about the relationship Batmen have with Gotham?

Bahaha, absolutely! At first I was listening to "Breezeblocks " by alt+j (the music video for that is pretty cool, I think, definitely watch it if you've got a few minutes!), which has a few lines of lyrics towards the end that lends itself to the idea of obsession/possession. (Also, it seems like an homage to Where the Wild Things Are, which in itself is cool, too!) Not too long after that, "Under the Bridge" by the Chili Peppers came on, and that definitely got me thinking about the idea of the city being her own character. Hehe! I don't think Terry is nearly as obsessed with Gotham as Bruce was, but enough that it's kind of sad to me, since he's such a young guy!
Also!!!!! I just picked up Batman Beyond Universe #12, and got to read the end of the Justice Lords arc!! Gah! Did you get to read them yet? Kyle Higgins keeps tweeting about the new Phantasm arc, I think the first 2 parts are out digitally, and I think I might end up buying the digital issues because I don't think I can wait for it to come out in print...
Also also, gonna start on the Justice Lords batsuit drawing now! I was thinking of doing the green Kryptonite version, do you have any preference?

Ooooh... I don't think I've ever heard of this band before! And they have probably one of the most unique sounds I've heard in music so far!
Definitely can see what you're saying about the possessive lyrics toward the end there, it really does kind of fit the relationship between the Batmen and Gotham (Bruce in particular, I'd say.) Oh my gosh, "Under The Bridge!" ; ; I need to listen to that song again, I miss it! But in a way, Gotham City really is sort of a character in and of herself, isn't she? 
OH MY GOSH!! Issue 12 was fantastic!! Bought it last week and spent the entire time I was reading it freaking out. (And it brought me to the conclusion that Zod needs fanart here on dA, because there's not any of the little guy yet. And Justice Lord GL Curare too, because why not?) Awww, man! D'8 That Phantasm arc is just going to kill us, isn't it? If you do get to read the digital issues, let me know what you think?

"the way one of them represents vengeance and the other hope."AHHH OMG EXACTLY!! That is probably the best description of Bruce and Terry I've ever read. Terry having such a different personality and outlook on life than Bruce (even though both suffered similar tragedies) - while still serving the world as Batman - that's what makes his character and Batman Beyond so good. Guh. I wish everyone would watch the show and read the comics, they're missing out on so much if they aren't! I would love love love love to read that comic idea of yours! Also, I hadn't heard of The-BlackCat's "Batman and Sons" before, but I checked it out omg, fantastic. Too cute!!
ZOD! I love Zod, he and Kai-ro are my favorite supporting characters from the Justice League. Speaking of; I gave in and bought the digital versions of the new Phantasm arc because I couldn't wait for it to come out in print. (I kept accidentally seeing spoilers for it! Boo!) So I'm now all caught up to chapter #28, omg. I can't wait for you to read it so we can discuss the amazing/craziness that is going on in it!! Apparently, (up to?) chapter #28 will be in Batman Beyond Universe #13, which comes out 8/27! I'll be buying that when it comes out, haha. Also! I found a fantastic interview DC did with Kyle Higgins and Alex Siegel about chapter #28, let me know if you want to read it and I'll link it to you! (I'd link it now, but it's full of spoilers!)
