Story:

Sugar is the first candy princess, the overseer over the kingdom. Sugar is also quite special, aside from being the princess, she personifys sugar, the most important ingredient off all things in candyland. There are no other creatures like her, everyone else represent existing candy, not the sugar itself. With that she's truly one of a kind.

Sugar was created at the same time candyland was. Back then there were no candy ponies, only animals and plants. While alive, the animals were just.. Animals. They couldn't talk or understand things on a deeper level. Sugar was doing her duties but she was incredibly lonely.

The princess has incredible powers over candyland, creation and destruction. Sugar was incredibly busy taking care of the land and all the flora and fauna by herself. Helping the land thrive and fighting the rot. It was exhausting.

Sugar couldn't do it all anymore, decades of doing the same things over and over, all by herself, nobody to understand her struggle. So one day she decided to create something new, someONE new. The candy ponies!

Taking pieces from the land and infusing them with her magic, creating new life! The candy ponies were part of the land so they knew how things were supposed to be, and could tell if something was wrong. The princess l created a bunch of different candy pony types in different regions and gave them a job, to protect and nourish their home. If something was amiss, they were to call for her assistance. This way sugars duties were cut down by a LOT. the candy ponies took care of the land around them and only alerted her to fight of rot.

On top of that, she finally had friends! Her subjects wouldn't dare call themselves her friends tho, sugar was like a God, their creator and the heart of candyland. Someone so important and divine couldn't possibly be friends with regular creatures like them. Even so, sugar was happy. There was life in the kingdom. Candy ponies evolved, left their homes to explore, create friendships, love connections, had children. The princess was delighted! But now there was a problem. The ponies she created were often made from the same pice of candy, essentially making them siblings. After the ponies had children there were big families, and after they crossed candy types even bigger families. Roughly 100 years after she created candy ponies they had all become a big family. Now there could be no more, they'd all just get older and eventually pass away, leaving her all alone again..

Sugar thought about a solution and decreed the creation day to be an annual occurrence. The creation day is when candy ponies of the 3rd (last possible) Generation prepare a place and recourses to be turned into new candy ponies by the princess. While the 3rd generation can never have children of their own, they get to raise the new batch the princess creates.

Sugar was very kind, wise and powerful. But after thousands of years she was so tired. Seing generations of her subjects and friends, living their life's and then passing on. Creating new candy ponies century after century. Always aware of everything going on, always the center of attention. She made a choice. Sugar knew that her very essence is the heart of candy land, without her the whole kingdom would die, rot would take over, everything would wither. She couldn't leave but she could renew herself.

She created a spell that only her magic could perform. A spell that would transform her into a new form, loosing all her previous personal memories, but knowing her purpose and duties. This way she'd never loose hope again, never get tired or consumed by misery. She waited for creation day and informed the ponies of g3 that a new princess will take the throne soon and to help her out if she feels lost, after creating a new batch of candy ponies she returned to the castle to perform the spell.

And just like that, princess sugar was gone and princess chocomella took over. The same thing happened 3 more times until present day, princess lolly. Whenever a princess gets too tired of it all she renews herself, and then goes back to following the lead that princess sugar set up for themselves.
