Let me begin by stating for the record that a) I'm not dialed into the whole cosplay thing and b) I'm not a photography expert by any stretch. That said, it's actually for those reasons, that I thought it might be a good experience to do one of these anyway.

I'm going to approach the critique from a formal standpoint since I have no context or any sort of idea as to who this character is. It's definitely nobody from Ninja Scroll, which was the only anime flick I ever watched. What I will say though is that the shot captures the temperament of the individual. Her pose, glare and wardrobe distinguish her from the predictable. The lighting is cast over her quite well, strong upon its arrival and dimmed as it makes its way beyond the figure.

I really enjoy the triangulation between the head, hand and the circular object located in the foreground. Naturally, the red lights on the object create emphasis, but they also work in tandem with the purple diamond that's affixed to the left hand. This analogous mix of color creates another triangulation, albeit proportionally smaller.

The elements of color, line and shape are really working well here. More than anything, color has been juxtaposed really well. Example? The aforementioned diamond, bowtie and cloth on her hips form yet another triangulation. These soft, lavender spots help to move the eye around and generate further interest in the figure. Moreover, the figure's black hair cast against the white robes allows for maximum contrast, framing the face in the process.

My only criticism here would be the hair. The figure and props are geometric in nature. The folds, colors and even the hand itself, navigate mostly in diagonal and vertical fashion. The hair, however, seems not a good fit, moving chaotically amongst the order. Perhaps this is how the hair for the character should be? I don't know. It would be interesting to see what another version of this character, this time with poker straight hair, would look like? Otherwise, great shot.

Hope this review was of help.

Peace.

Thanks to she's truly great and all.
