"in time"- chapter 4

      The following day was a lonely one for Amaya since she had to stay at home, alone, to rest. Kazuki, Eri and Yukiko dropped by before going to school and they brought breakfast for Amaya since she couldn't cook on her own. After eating with her, they left for school.

       Amaya stayed inside her room all morning. she tried not to think about everything she was missing in school. Time slowly passed as she peacefully read a book during the afternoon when suddenly, another knock on the door broke the silence. She wondered who could be visiting at that hour since everyone was in school and her parents are at work. None the less, she still went downstairs and opened the door. Again, it was Yukio.

Amaya: *shocked* Murasaki-kun. . . what are you doing here? why aren't you in school?

Yukio: Well, Mihashi-sensei said that we have to stick with our partners for 3 whole weeks, right?

Amaya:[yeah...that's all it was] oh... right... Now, c-come in.

Yukio: *goes inside* thank you

       Yukio spent the whole after noon at Amaya's house. The both of them killed time by chitchatting with one another and getting to know each other more. Yukio left a few mnutes before the school's departure time.

Yukio: it's great to know you more, Nakazawa-san. Sorry for the bad start. I know that being new is tough in our school...

Amaya: Don't mind that anymore. The past is done. I hope that I can talk to you now in school, though. Now, I realized that... you're really a great person. *smiles*

Yukio:*heart beats faster* Yeah, sure. T-thanks. *smiles* oh yeah...*checks his watch* I have to go. If kentaro sees me coming from here, I don't know what he'll think. *gasps* t-that did not come out right...

Amaya:*hides her anger* I understand. Go now, Murasaki-kun.

Yukio:T-thanks. Bye. See you tomorrow. *leaves* [Forgive me, Amaya. I offended you again...]

       Amaya rushed back to her room and buried her face on her pillow as her tears made their way down her face.

-Amaya's POV-

Murasaki-kun you idiot. You care too much about your social status. You always make me look like a fool. I was a fool for even thinking that you're a good person.  You never considered me as your friend anyway....

       Kazuki was on his way to visit amaya again when he saw yukio just standing by on one corner. "he wasn't in school today and this street is heading to Amaya-chan's house. Could he be absent just for... Amaya?" he thought to himself.

       Upon reaching Amaya's house, He walked up to Amaya's doorstep and gently knocked on the door. Amaya opened the door a few seconds later, her face still tearstained.

Kazuki: *gasp* Amaya-chan, are you crying?

Amaya: *tries to sound ok* no, I...I'm fine.

Kazuki: I know you, Amaya-chan. Something's up. Do you want to talk about it? Can  I come in?

Amaya: sure... come in...

     Kazuki entered to room and they both sat in silence on the couch. Moments passed by and Amaya started to speak...

Amaya: *teary eyed* Ka-Kazuki senpai... anou...

Kazuki: *goes closer to Amaya* yes? what is it, Amaya-chan?

Amaya: c-can I... open up to you?

Kazuki: go ahead, Amaya-chan. *smiles*

Amaya: I don't get Yukio at all. He was really good to me yesterday coz he went here last night even though it was raining hard. And then today, he didn't go to school just for me. But before he left, he said that he didn't want kentaro to see him coming from here. *starts to cry* I can't believe him. He's so nice to me when no one's around...

Kazuki: Maybe that's just how he is. *hugs amaya* calm down now, Amaya-chan.

       Kazuki continued on hugging and comforting Amaya. Behind him, Amay felt her heart pounding madly and she knew that she was blushing. She nervously lifted her  arms and returned the hug. Kazuki on the other hand, was shocked because ti was the first time that Amaya ever returned his hug.

-Kazuki's POV-

Ever since I met you, I liked you. I never wanted you to be lonely and I don't want anyone to hurt you. It has been a month  now and yet i don't have the guts to tell you how I feel. Being this close to you, Amaya, is enough already. I'm afraid that if I tell you the truth, everything might change.

Kazuki: *lets go of Amaya* So, Yukio's the reason why you're crying, huh? *wipes her tears with his thumb* stop crying now, ok? *smiles*

Amaya: *tries to smile* t-thank you, kazuki-senpai

       The next day, Amaya was feeling well enough to go back to school. As so as she stepped out of the house, she again saw Yukio, waiting.

Yukio: O-ohayo Nakazawa-san... *smiles*

Amaya: Ohayo. Anou... what are you doing here so early?

Yukio: e~tou... i just thought that maybe... we could walk together.

Amaya: Oh. Alright. Sure. *approaches Yukio*

Yukio: So... Let's go? *leaves with Amaya*

       Amaya and Yukio both walked in silence. Amaya felt like walking way ahead of Yukio since she knew that the moment they enter the school, Yukio would be back to being mean to her again. Yukio on the other hand, felt like he wanted to go closer to Amaya and talk to her more but of course, knowing that he offended her, he just let her be. As they walked, Toru and kentaro came walking towards them.

Kentaro: Yukio~! ohayo~!

Yukio: [crap... he's here] *turns to kentaro* ohayo,kentaro.

Toru: Ohayo Yukio. *looks at Amaya* Ohayo nakazawa-san *smiles*

Amaya: Ohayo haraguchi-kun. Ne,  I'll go ahead. bye. *walks away*

Toru: see you later, nakazawa-san. *waves*

      Amaya wasn't far away from the 3 guys when she saw kazuki from a distance, not so far away. She immediately called him and ran towards him. kazuki gave her a quick hug before they left, leaving the 3 guys alone with their thoughts. Yukio watched them from where he was as he stopped the urging feeling to run after Amaya.

Yukio:*stares at Amaya and kazuki*

kentaro: Anou... Yukio, are you ok?

Yukio: huh? oh... yeah.

Toru: *looks at Yukio* [hmm...]

       Break time came and again, Kazuki, Amaya, Eri and Yukiko stayed with each other. It was only halfway during break time when Amaya had to go back to the classroom due to special reasons. As the break time went on, surprisingly, confessions were told.

-with yukio-

Toru: yukio, I've noticed something lately and i'll directly ask you this question. Do you like nakazawa-san?

Yukio: I...uhh... no... err... I don't know.

Kentaro: *gasp* what do you mean you don't know?! before, you told me that you didn't like her at all, right?!

Yukio: Yes... but... *sigh* i don't know, kentaro.

Toru: Kentaro, let him be. Amaya is a great person. she's just right for him.

Yukio: O-oi! i didn't say that i actually like her!

Toru: right. Anyway, Kentaro, how's it going with eri?

Kentaro: *sigh* She won't even talk to me. Tss... just because of Amaya.

Toru: Amaya isn't that bad. I talked to her once before and she seems okay.

-with Eri-

Kazuki: of course i can't tell her! that would ruin everything!

Eri: of course it won't! Maybe... just maybe... she has the same feelings for you too. *giggles*

Kazuki: O_o t-that's impossible...

Yukiko:that isn't impossible for you, kazuki-senpai.

Kazuki: *sigh* but still... i can't tell her.

       The final bell finally rang, indicating that it was finally departure time. The 3 girls, Amaya, Eri and yukiko went home together, leaving kazuki behind due to his varsity trainings. Yukio surprisingly stayed behind later than usual, hoping that he can talk to kazuki personally. On the other hand, Kazuki was also secretly waiting for the right time to do the same thing that yukio wanted to do.

       Kazuki was just sitting down on a bench when Yukio passed by.

Kazuki: *sees yukio* Yukio~!

Yukio: *turns to kazuki* oh... kazuki. just the person i wanted to talk to.

Kazuki: what's up with you?

Yukio: i think I should be the one asking that question. What's up with you and Amaya?

Kazuki: we're close friends. As an older person, I try to help her in any way i can.

Yukio: friends?! is that all?!

Kazuki: Yes. Why? what's the big deal?... wait a minute, why does this even concern you? do you... like her?

Yukio: If i say yes what would you do?!
