Favorite Episode: Forget You (Season 2, Episode 24)

Okay, so bare with me because I got emotional drawing this. I’ve been waiting for an episode like this forever okay. This was such a big episode for the three of them. Out the window went those “Prax is pure evil”, “Mephisto is pure son”, and “Iris can’t handle the crown” claims. This was so damn refreshing. Not only did we get lore and a little insight on the twins, we got to see Mephisto in his rawest, most desperate state. This blew Heavy Metal and If You Can’t Beat ‘Em out the window for me. I’ve never seen him lose it like that. And all for Praxina. The biggest point was to show the twins’ relationship at its core. No one is more important to them than each other. Mephisto and Praxina seem to only have each other and in the end, its their love for each other that brings Praxina home. Her home is with her little brother.
The Praxina we get to see, let me be clear, is not redeemed Praxina. The Praxina we see is a side even Mephisto can’t recognize. Its been too long since he’s seen her smile. The Praxina we see is the Praxina before Ephedia went to hell. We see only a glimpse of her past and its super cute, but, it isn’t her anymore. Its what Iris believes she should be like. She’s innocent and moldable. She’s easily swayed and eager to please. When you think about her original state in the show, God, what has happened to this poor child. There’s so much darkness and pain. Praxina, like Mephisto, has just as much potential for good as the boys. She’s a little awkward and brash like Talia and Carissa, but also very shy and insecure. Her darker side oozes confidence and pride. Imagine a Praxina that expresses all of these things and more. That is the redeemed Praxina I see in her future.
Iris has to make one of the biggest choices of the show. Her enemy can be molded into her ideal friend. But at what cost? The devastation of her brother? The destruction of their family? Erasing her past? She couldn’t save them both by keeping Praxina as she was and though Praxina loves being free, she can’t leave Mephisto behind. “He needs me.” Honestly, you can’t have either twin without the other and I get so mad when I see people cast their relationship aside for the sake of ships or picking favorites. They need each other so much and taking them away from each other or pushing them so far apart they hardly see each other is so maddening to me because of this episode solidifying their importance to each other.
And Iris realizes that. She remembers how much she needs those she loves and how much it hurts to not be able to be with her family that loves her so much. She uses her own experience, and arguably remembers the pain of Lev, Talia, Auriana, and others who lost their families. The burden of her people, earthly and unearthly weighs on her shoulders and it all depends on how she handles Praxina. Her anti self. And she hands her the tiara. She recognizes that even though she wants everything to go right, and as much as she’s enjoyed their friendship, she can’t put her desires over the needs and rights of her people. And Praxina returns home. Talia and Auriana are surprised by this (so far Auriana and Iris have had the revelation about the twins not being purely evil; we’re still waiting on Talia’s revelation where she states this to cross out her “they’re evil twins what do you expect”); Iris has hope that their influence will change the twins’ minds and bring out the love and kindness in their hearts. She knows it’ll take time. She believes in them now. And in the end, maybe Praxina is starting to believe in the girls too.
This episode was so important and I’m so glad some of you see it. I’ve always loved them, but this episode just permanently put them in my top three overall in the series.
