Description
Quink is a fairy who will offer to scribe at any meeting or gathering of the faeries. He loves an inky mess and can't help but splash ink all over the place. If he scribes for you, be careful to read what he writes closely, for he always enjoys twisting people's words and telling things not quite as they seemed.I painted Quink in watercolours, ink, tea and coloured pencil and made rather a mess myself while doing it!

Oh, this is so wonderful! I love the colors. The ink fairy has such a smooth, beautiful skin color and the background really creates a wonderful atmosphere. Lovely job with the ink splots and the script!

I love it, I presume the brown background is the tea. Do you mind if I ask how you got the colour of the tea so vivid. I've tried tea before but it came out very pale. thanks.

Mostly I just left the tea to steep for ages and dripped it on nice and thick...I had to wait ages to let it dry but it creates really strong stains that way. Some parts were accentuated with watercolour.

He's so cute! I love the splotchy background and then seeing the explanation of the character, it really fits! I also love the light effect on his belly, that really puts focus to his evilish character. It's fun to create a fairy being the cause of all the splotches on a beautiful letter, and I can definitely imagine one having fun ruining the paper like that!

Parker Pens makes a certain bottle of ink with the name 'Quink'. I'm glad this fellow never climbed out of my bottle of Quink, Great Work!

The usual of tea as a pigment is a wonderful idea. Goodness knows, I've dumped a fair amount across term papers and lab reports in the past while never once considering it for art purposes.
Quink is a different color/texture from the background, a fact which succeeds in bringing him forward even while the tiny ink clogged foot anchors him to the midground, both acting to firmly establish him as a piece of the whole.
Overall, this is a fun idea, skillfully rendered into a painting. Thank you for sharing it.
