Thing is... Kabal never uses a mask until the Earth is invaded and swept by Kahn's Extermination Squads. Kabal was attacked and left for dead. He was saved and is only alive due to the oxygen mask.

I have an image of Kabal after those events on my Mortal Kombat facebook group which I will post up here soon.
