The Mirror Cave episode pretty much explains that the Pokemon World runs on Multiverse Theory. Which means anything that has anything remotely to do with Pokemon is canon now.
Which means every shipping ever made is canon. In its own universe. So I see no reason for the Shipping Wars to continue.
