Description

*Compassionate shonen protagonists from around the same time period, who lived a peaceful life until their entire family was murdered by an undead creature who can only operate at night (a demon and a vampire), leaving them and their sibling (Nezuko and Dio), who was turned into one of said creatures, the only survivors. They set out on a journey to change their sibling, albeit in opposite ways (With Tanjiro wanting to turn Nezuko into a human, and Jonathan trying to redeem Dio, and when that fails, he tries to kill Dio in order to prevent him from causing more death).
*On their journey, they encounter a wise man (Sakonji Urokodaki, and Baron Zepelli) who teaches them a special form of fighting that utilizes breathing, also drawing power from the sun (Water Breathing and Hamon), which is one of the only things that can truly kill the creatures (Demons and Vampires both being immune to basically everything but the sun) they face.
*It's also a battle of opposites, as while Tanjiro's demon sibling Nezuko aids Tanjiro, Jonathan's sibling, Dio, absolutely hates Jonathan, and even ends up killing him. Also, the main enemy they face has a strong connection to their bloodline (With the Kamado family passing down Hinokami Kagura, which was the only technique that could kill Muzan, and Jonathan being the first Joestar with a connection to Dio, which leads to Dio's hatred of the Joestars).
*Both have iconic marks (Tanjiro's scar, and Jonathan's Joestar birthmark) due to their bloodline (With Tanjiro's bloodline also having those marks, and all Joestars having the birthmark). And also, Hamon and Hinokami Kagura are basically the same thing (Techniques requiring proper breathing, which come from the sun and are passed down in a family with a connection to undead creatures).
*Finally, while Yoriichi, the first user of Hinokami Kagura, was the cause of Tanjiro being able to kill Muzan, even though Yoriichi had been dead for a while, Jonathan, the first Hamon-using Joestar, was the cause of Jotaro, his descendant, being able to kill DIO, even though Jonathan had been dead for a while.
*Both can also channel the power of the sun into their blades.
