It depends of the the game really, usually I choose: bulbasaur, chikorita/cyndaquil, torchic and piplup.
My fav of the starter is bulbasaur followed by torchic.
If we could choose pichu in a game.... X3 I'd choose it, immediately!!!

Hoenn: Mudkip
Sinnoh: Chimchar
My first starter ever was Bulbasaur, though.
Fun Fact: I prefer male pokemon over female pokemon, unless it calls to be a female, like Chikorita or Gorebyss.
