I wanted this guy to seem like he grew that way, kinda like he was just setting there just waiting for someone to pick him. After sculpting I airbrushed shades of brown then finished with orange

Oh wow you carved it and then airbrushed over that? Interesting! When I saw the category was culinary arts I thought maybe it was a cake.. and then I saw pumpkin carving and was very confused. I thought you sculpted something onto the pumpkin, lol. You definitely achieved your goal though! I totally looks like it grew that way and when you picked him he just opened up his eyes. So cool!

I'm particularly impressed with the airbrushing.
You can't really tell it's carved unless you touch it.
And the eyes hit the uncanny valley perfectly.
