Shadow is well aware that Amy is very capable of taking care of herself- but sometimes she puts herself in harms way, situations beyond her ability. He is not implying that she needs protecting but rather acknowledging that no one can keep her from being where her friends are. If Sonic or anyone else is fighting, she will be there. Shadow is in his own way allowing her to be on the battle field, taking her safety into his own hands for her her own peace of mind.Amy however, realizes to late what danger she's been put in and what a disadvantage he will be at if he has to worry about her safety the entire fight.
Now all she can do is believe in him.

Whenever someone says don't die to another person, that person always gets killed. It happens a lot, like in that once scene in Jurassic World, where Owen tells some of the recruitsto watch their back, they never do until it's to late. Why is that cliche used a lot?

You know? If Sonic wasn't her lover interest and it was Shadow, I think this would be a likely scenario, I love how you draw the softness of Amy's spines/hair and the aura of Shadow in his super form truly captures his character well, everytime you always surprise me with your works and know how to really make me go "wow", even sometimes without words, good show.
