Also, yeah I could have fleshed out this part of the comic but fuck Pewter, it's so boring.

For the record, it took 30 TURNS to defeat that stupid Onix. In PureRed, Bide doesn't do any damage, it just raises Attack and Defense. Defense Curl, on the other hand, does not raise Defense. It instead acts like modern Amnesia (raises Special Defense despite Gen 1 not having a Special Defense stat, kind of like Light Screen I guess, but localised to the user and wears off if switched out.) Also it spammed Harden, too. I think it had an attacking move but I have no idea what it was because it did barely any damage and it clearly didn't use the move often. Because Onix did not attack, and this is Gen 1 so NPC trainers will never run out of move PP, my only hope was to either Poison or Burn it to death. Brock also has 2 Full Heals (vanilla and in PureRed), so it literally was 30 turns before this stupid rock snake finally died.
After checking with a new save file, it has Tackle and Growl, as well as Bide and Harden. Geodude is the one with Defense Curl, which I think may have been improperly coded in the original to work like a permanent Light Screen. Doesn't seem to have that issue in the new version but I'm too lazy to change the move names now.
