Chapter 72:

Friday the last day of the Junior Senior Trip went by rather quickly for the group, for they spent it mostly at the hotel and on the beach. Finally, Saturday morning found them loading up on the buses, heading for the airport. Urahara was standing at the side of the bus watching the students loading their bags and suitcases onto the bus.

Just then, Urahara watched Aiko and Asako walk from the hotel Aiko had two suitcases and Asako had a bag and a rather large box in her arms.

“Ok, girls, I know you did some shopping while you were here. But did you do so much you needed to put it in a box as well?” Urahara asked.

“This is not from shopping, Urahara-sensei. These are the gifts I received from the party” Aiko told him.

“I thought you had your parents take them back for you?” Urahara replied.

“No, I had everything taken to the room the night of the party,” Aiko said.

“My, my, I hope we have enough room for it.” Urahara replied adjusting his hat.

“If there is not enough on this bus, we have a little more room on the other one for it or at least their luggage,” Yoruichi said. “Either way, we need to hurry we only have twenty minutes and we have to be at the airport.”

Aiko nodded as she placed her two suitcases on the bus and took the box from Asako.

“I will go put this on the other bus.” Aiko told her.

While she walked over to the other bus, Renji walked up behind her and removed the box from her arms. Aiko looked his way and then smiled.

    “Renji,” Aiko said.

“Why didn’t you come looking for one of us? We would have helped you girls out.” Renji asked her.

“We had it under control. You guys had your own things to get out here.” Aiko replied.

Renji smiled as they stopped at the bus and placed the box in the baggage compartment.

    “Thank you, Renji,” Aiko said.

“Anytime, you know that” Renji replied, he offered his arm to Aiko as she looped hers with his and he showed her back to the other bus.

    ---

The last month of school went by rather quickly for the students. The annual play was a hit; Yamamoto was so impressed he treated everyone that was involved with the play to an enjoyable evening out to dinner. After the excitement of the play settled, the busy activity with the final exams, and the seniors getting ready for their graduation started eating up all the free time the students had. However, not everyone was enjoying the last few weeks of school. Aiko was noticing the closer the school year drew the more she saw a change in Gin and even Izuru. Among them, Aiko had also noticed Byakuya seemed to have an exceedingly pleased look on his face. Not thinking too much more on it, Aiko let it pass as a thought of their moods at the end of the school year. However, that thought did not last long with Aiko when Asako walked into her dorm room all a fluster.

“Did you hear what happened?!” Asako asked Aiko slamming the door behind her, and walked into Aiko’s room.

Aiko was in the kitchen fixing dinner when she turned to face Asako. She looked as if she was about to cry when she stopped in front of Aiko.

“What is going on, Asako? Are you alright?” Aiko asked her.

“No I am not alright!” Asako blurted out. “Gin is being forced to resign!”

“He is what?!” Aiko exclaimed. “How is that? What has he done?!”

“I don’t know all the details, but I heard it has something to do with the trip three weeks ago.” Asako replied.

Aiko stood there looking at Asako, but not looking at Asako. She was in a state of deep thought and Asako could see she was trying to figure out what it could have been that got Gin into so much trouble.

Aiko then drew her hand to her forehead as a single tear rolled down her cheek. “I know how you feel,” Asako said wrapping her arms around Aiko, and hugging her.

“We have to find out why this is happening,” Aiko said.

“Yeah, but how? Neither Gin nor Izuru are talking. I already went to them and asked, Gin told me it was nothing for me to worry over.” Asako told her pulling back from the hug.

“One thing I know for sure, Byakuya is involved,” Aiko said.

“How do you get that?” Asako asked.

“Because I noticed about the time Gin started acting funny, Byakuya was a little too happy.” Aiko replied.

“You don’t think that asshole--” Asako stopped short when Aiko started nodding her head. “That son of a bitch! He told Yamamoto what happen on the trip!”

“I am guessing so,” Aiko said.

“How are you going to find out?” Asako asked.

“I am going to talk to Gin and if he won’t tell me, I will go to Byakuya and ask.” Aiko told her.

“I want to go when you talk you Byakuya,” Asako said.

    “Why Byakuya?” Aiko asked.

“Because when he says he did it for that reason I want to be there to help you kick the shit out of him.” Asako told her.

Aiko chuckled, and shook her head. “I will take care of Byakuya. He seems to forget, I know how to play his games as well as he does.”

“What are you going to do?” Asako asked as she watched Aiko turn back to her cooking.

“I will turn the tables on him. He seems to forget I have dirt on him for what he has done to me and Shuuhei,” Aiko said.

Asako chuckled as Aiko looked over her shoulder at Asako. “Can you do me a favor?” Aiko asked.

“Sure, what is that?” Asako asked.

“Text Ikkaku and asked him to come over here. I need to have him do something for me.” Aiko told her.

“On it,” Asako said pulling her phone from her pocket and text Ikkaku.

    ---

The next couple of days went by rather slow while Aiko gathered everything she needed on Byakuya. She was not really sure if she was going to need it, but wanted to be ready if she did. It was only four days and school would be out for summer and she had to move soon with what she had or she would lose her chance to save Gin’s job.

On the last day of school, Aiko walked up to Gin’s classroom door. While she stood there, she watched Gin placing things into a rather large box on his desk.

Aiko sighed and walked into the room. “I want to know why?” Aiko asked stepping in the room, and sliding the door closed.

“Aiko?” Gin replied with a wide smile. His smile faded slowly, breaking Aiko’s heart in two. A tear trickled down her cheek.

“Why are you not fighting this, Gin?” Aiko asked.

    “So you heard?” Gin asked.

“I heard a little and I think I figured the rest of it out,” Aiko said.

“If it is what Asako told me, you are right in your thoughts,” Izuru said walking in from the greenhouse.

“So Byakuya is behind this?” Aiko growled. “That asshole!” Aiko started to turn to leave the room as Gin quickly caught her by her arm.

“Let it go, Aiko,” Gin told her.

“No I won’t let it go! Byakuya would cut his nose off the spite his own face. I swear that man is evil.” Aiko retorted jerking from Gin’s grasp, her words trailed behind her as she walked from the room.

“I will give him a taste of his own medicine. I swear I will not let the students lose you as their Sinsei.”  Aiko stormed from the room as Gin stood there staking his head.

“That girl. What are we going to do with her?” Gin replied.

“Well we can’t let her do this alone, Gin. If she does what I think she might do, she may be expelled.” Izuru replied.

Gin turned looking at Izuru. “I’m sure Aiko will not let that happen.”

    ---

A little later, Aiko stormed into Byakuya’s room. He was nowhere to be seen as she stormed over to his office door, and flung the door open seeing Byakuya sitting there taking to another student.

“We need to talk and we need to talk, NOW!” Aiko said in a more than forceful tone.

“Aiko!” Byakuya retorted standing to his feet. “I will not have this type of insubordination from you or any of my students!”

Byakuya started walking from behind his desk as Aiko stormed toward the other student. She grabbed his arm jerking him from the chair and escorted him to the door, closing it in his face as he stood there. She locked the door and then spun around to see Byakuya standing behind her. He then took her arm in his hand and went to reach for the door. Aiko jerked from his hold as she walked farther into the room. As she turned she replied.

“Withdraw your request for Gin’s resignation to the school or--”

“Or what, Aiko?” Byakuya asked her with a slight growl, cutting her off.

“You will go down with him.” Aiko told him.

Byakuya laughed. “And I guess you think you can make this happen?”

“I have enough proof against you to not only get you to hand in your resignation, but to get Yamamoto to fire you if I push it hard enough.” Aiko informed him.

“You have heresy, is all you have, Aiko,” Byakuya said.

“I have witnesses, pictures, and signed documents putting you at the club the night of the bachelor party. That is all I need to hang you out to dry, Byakuya. I have Ichigo and Kao as well. They done told me they would step up to save Gin’s job here.” Aiko informed him.

Byakuya looked on at Aiko shocked that she was threatening him with this.

“I also have your confession of your feelings for me, Shuuhei’s statement of the threats you gave him if he did not break up with me, and what you would do if he did not. I could so have your job, and if you don’t withdraw your request on Gin I will set this all in effect!” Aiko threatened.

Byakuya stepped toward Aiko grabbing her arms and jerking her toward him. “Go ahead, Aiko and this will be your first and last year here as well. I will make sure of that.” Byakuya growled.

Aiko jerked away from Byakuya as she glared at him. “Go ahead! I am withdrawing from the school. I am taking all this to Yamamoto and exchanging my enrollment for Gin’s job. I will not be the one to blame for the schools loss of an excellent Sinsei.” Aiko informed him.

Byakuya stood in shock as Aiko walked around him toward the door.

“You won’t dare?” Byakuya retorted turning quickly toward her.

“Watch me,” Aiko said walking from the room.

“Aiko!” Byakuya exclaimed taking off after her.

However, once he was out in the hall Aiko was nowhere to be found. Byakuya quickly closed his door and went off toward Yamamoto’s office.

    ---

Once Aiko was in Yamamoto’s office, she went to the door and knocked. Aiko was shocked when she saw Izuru open the door. Looking in the room, she saw Gin sitting at the front of Yamamoto’s desk.

“Ichimaru Sinsei!” Aiko exclaimed walking in the room.

Gin stood placing his hands to her shoulders. “Aiko, my dear, I cannot let you do this.”

“I will do what I have to do to save your job here at the school. This is my fault and I will not let you go down for it.” Aiko told him.

“Your fault, child. How is it your fault?” Yamamoto asked her.

“It was my idea to do this to Byakuya. I am to blame for all this. Please if you are going to punish someone it should be me,” Aiko said bowing to Yamamoto.

“You told me it was your idea,” Yamamoto said looking at Gin.

Aiko stood quickly looking at Gin. “Why did you do that?!”

Gin went to tell her something as Yamamoto spoke. “I think I need to talk to Aiko alone.”

    “But--”

“Alone!” Yamamoto repeated in a more forceful tone, cutting Gin off.

Gin and Izuru bowed and left the room, and Aiko took a seat at the front of his desk. About thirty minutes later Aiko and Yamamoto emerged from his office. Byakuya, Gin, and Izuru where standing in the lobby waiting for the worst as they watched them walk out of the office.

“I need you two in my office now!” Yamamoto told them not sounding too pleased. “Izuru, I will be speaking to you next, and Aiko, if you would please stay here until I have finished.”

Aiko nodded, looking back over her shoulder at Yamamoto. “Yes Sir.”

Aiko walked past Gin as he placed his hand on her shoulder for comfort. “Everything will be alright.”

Aiko nodded with a slight smile as she watched Gin and Byakuya disappear into Yamamoto’s office. After about twenty minutes, you could hear Gin and Byakuya yelling at one another from behind the closed door. Just then, Aiko jumped when Yamamoto yelled at them.

“I am glad he did not yell at me. His look alone would have killed me,” Aiko said.

“Why did you do this, Aiko?” Izuru asked her.

Aiko hung her head, and said, “I was not going to let this school lose an awesome Sensei because of me.”

“But you belong here, and do you know how mad and upset everyone is at you because of this?” Izuru asked her.

“Yes I do, Shuuhei has not really talked to me in two days, but they understand what I am trying to do here, and they do not want to see any of you leave here. At least they will still see me. If you guys leave we may never see you guys again.”

“You will not get rid of us that easily, Aiko.” Izuru said putting his arm around her for comfort.

Time past as Izuru was finally in Yamamoto’s office. Gin and Aiko chatted softly as Byakuya sat across from them watching them talk. After three hours of all of them being in the office area, Yamamoto had all four of them standing in front of him and back in his office once more.

“My, my, what a mess we have here. I have two of my best Senseis, both of which share deep feelings for a very gifted and very attractive young woman. I know both of you are smart enough not to get involved with her, but that does not stop the fact of how you feel for her. Then I have you…” Yamamoto said looking at Izuru. “You are the one that brought her deeper into this mess by dating her. Something I should have put a stop to the second you entertained the thought.” Yamamoto shook his head looking down at his desk. The four of them stood not saying a word. After a few seconds, Yamamoto looked back up at them.

    “Aiko.”

    Aiko looked at Yamamoto.

“You are the center of this, child.”

Aiko nodded as she felt her chest grow tight. She knew this was going to be it. Either she was going to get what she requested or Yamamoto was gong to fire Gin and Byakuya both for their actions.

“I am going to take your request and give you what you wish--”

“No! You can’t do that!” Gin, Izuru, and Byakuya exclaimed, cutting Yamamoto off.

Yamamoto glared at the three of them slamming his hand to the top of his desk. “My decision has been made and I will not withdraw it!” Yamamoto retorted.

Aiko was standing there with a smile on her face. “Thank you, Sir,” Aiko told him.

“However, I am not going to accept your request for dismissal from the school.”

    “But, Mr. Yamamoto?” Aiko exclaimed.

He gave her a stern look then moved on. “Now, for the two of you,” Yamamoto said looking at Gin and Byakuya. “I will not have anything like this happen again. Is that understood?”

    “Yes Sir,” the two replied.

“If I hear one thing of any of you getting out of line again or plotting against one another...” Yamamoto paused looking only at Byakuya. “Or if Aiko comes to me and tells me you are plotting against her and Mr. Hisagi.” Yamamoto then looked at the two of them again. “Your days of teaching will end with this school. Is that understood?”

“So we are all staying with the school?” Izuru asked.

“Yes, I listened to Aiko’s side from start to finish and she raised a very good argument. I just wish she had come to me at the start of this. We may have been able to avoid all this.” Yamamoto replied gesturing to the ones standing before him.

“I thank you again, Mr. Yamamoto for your decision in this,” Aiko said.

    “You’re welcome, child,” Yamamoto said.

“What about Gin’s actions toward Aiko?” Byakuya asked. “Is he not going to get reprimanded for any of that?”

“I can’t reprimand him for a stage kiss,” Yamamoto said.

“Stage?! That was no stage kiss!” Byakuya retorted.

“It most certainly was a stage kiss. What makes you think I would cause trouble for Gin with the school? He is my favorite Sensei. I would never jeopardize his job or reputation for that fact.” Aiko replied.

“If it was a stage kiss why did you not fight it then?” Byakuya asked looking at Gin.

“To fight it I would have had to involve Aiko and you. Something I was trying to avoid. However, that did not work out.” Gin replied.

“So even though I was trying to bring you down you were keeping my secret quiet?” Byakuya retorted in a disbelieving tone.

“You may have drifted apart from us, Byakuya, but you will always be a good friend no matter how big of an asshole you become.” Gin told him.

Byakuya gave a disgusted huff and looked away as he mumbled. “Like I would believe that.”

“Believe what you want, Byakuya. We have been friends since the fifth grade and we have always had the others back. Why would it change now because we are older? Just because you chose to walk away from us, does not mean we will to walk away from you. Juushiro, Shunsui, and others feel the same way.”

Byakuya looked over at Gin as Gin stood there looking at him.

“I told none of the students of this; however, Aiko found out and came to help. She did just what I thought she would do. Sacrificed her place at the school to keep both of us here for the other students, she knew they needed us more than she did.”

Byakuya looked at Aiko as she replied. “I did what I had to do. Even if it meant me leaving, I did not want you two having to leave the school. They need you here.”

    “But…” Byakuya said.

“It is true, Byakuya. You know it as well as I do.” Aiko replied.

“You are both wrong. Aiko you need everyone here, just as much as they need you. I have seen many changes in the students and teachers at this school since Aiko has started here and they all have been for the better. No matter how you look at it, this group of students and teachers will never be forgotten by this school, or anyone involved with them. It’s a group that will follow past these walls, and into their future lives. I am sure you all will share many heartaches and happy moments together as friends and mentors. And I wish you all the best with what may come.” Yamamoto told them.

Aiko smiled as she looked at Yamamoto. “I have been to many schools and have a lot of different friends and senseis…” Aiko paused as she looked at Gin, Izuru, and Byakuya. “But here, I have found friends, love, and mentors in some of the greatest people I could know, and as you said and as I hope… We stay that way for the rest of our lives.”

“I am sure we will,” Gin said as one of his wide smiles appeared across his face.

“Can we call a truce and start over?” Aiko asked offering her hand to Byakuya.

“I would like that very much, Aiko,” Byakuya told her taking her hand into his, and then slowly pulling her toward him for a hug.

Once they broke from the hug, Gin was standing there with is arms open gesturing for his hug. Aiko stepped up to him and into his arms as he hugged her tightly.

“Thank you, Aiko. Now we are even.” Gin told her kissing her atop of the head.

Aiko pulled from the hug as she looked up at Gin. “I think this is only the beginning, because we will always be there for one another to help the other out.” Aiko replied.

“Boy, is that statement true or what,” Izuru said.

Aiko, Gin, and Byakuya looked at Izuru, as they started to chuckle.

“Go on you four, out of my office I am tired of looking at ya.” Yamamoto replied with a wide smile shooing them away.

The four nodded with a slight bow and exited his office. When they entered the lobby friends and mentors greeted them.

    “So what happened?” Renji asked.

    “Are you staying?” Ikkaku asked.

“Aiko, I cannot believe you did this.” Juushiro replied.

“It’s Aiko you are talking about,” Shuuhei said. “Sweetness, please tell me you do not have to leave, and Gin and Byakuya are here to stay?”

“My my… what will you not do to save someone you care for,” Urahara said.

    “That’s our girl,” Yoruichi said.

    “WILL EVERYONE STOP?!” Asako yelled.

Everyone quieted down as Asako and Ayasegawa stood in front of Aiko and Gin.

“So, what happened, my spring flower?” Ayasegawa asked.

“Yeah, spill it, girl.” Asako ordered.

Aiko smiled as she looked at Gin and then Byakuya. She then turned looking back at the others. “We are here to stay,” Byakuya said placing his hand on Aiko’s shoulder.

Everyone started cheering and carrying on, hugs were given out as if it was New Year and even a few tears were shed. Hisagi walked up to Byakuya and offered his hand. Byakuya looked at it and then took it in to his.

    “Truce…” Hisagi said.

“Truce, and take good care of her or next time I interfere there will be no getting her back.” Byakuya told him.

“No worries there, Byakuya,” Hisagi said as he looked Aiko’s way. “She is one girl I will never hurt.”

“Damn straight, because I’ll kick his ass,” Toushiro said slapping Hisagi on the back.

“Come on lets get our summer going!” Renji exclaimed.

Everyone cheered, as everyone quickly made their way out of the office for the last day of the school year.

    The End…
