'Bound By You'

Light hung out for a couple more hours after L’s abrupt exit. Then sadly it was time for him to take his leave too.

While Oki walked Light to the front door, Light told her, “I will be back later tonight, I promise. I just have a few things I need to get done.”

“I wish you did not have to leave.” Oki said.

Light stopped in front of the door, pulling Oki into his arms.

“I wish I did not have to leave either, but I need to get something’s done at headquarters. Plus, I got something I want to do for you, and I want to have it all together for us by tomorrow night. I will be back before you know it.”

“Something for tomorrow tonight?” Oki inquired.

“Yeah, and do not worry about dressing up. I am not taking you out to have to deal with people. It is going to be only you and me.” Light told her.

“So I can wear my PJ’s?” Oki joked.

Light chuckled at her, “If that is what you want to wear. I do not care, as long as you are comfortable.”

Oki giggled hugging Light, “You’re too good to me, but I am sure I can find something to wear.”

“That’s fine. I will call you before I leave headquarters tonight. So you know I am on my way here.” Light stepped from the hug.

“Oh! Wait a second, Light.” Oki said. Oki walked back to her bedroom and then quickly back out. She had something in her hand.

“Here…” Oki stepped up to Light and opened her hand.

“The key to your apartment?” Light said in a shocked, but happy tone.

“I thought just in case you ever need to get in and I cannot make it to the door…”

Oki was abruptly cut short as Light leaned forward and kissed her.

“What was that for?” Oki asks when Light pulled back slowly.

“Because I love you.” Light replied.

Oki smiled giving him a quick kiss on the lips. “I love you too, Light.”

Light caressed Oki’s cheek as he reached for the door handle.

“I will see you later tonight.”

Oki nodded with a smile as she watched Light exit the apartment closing the door behind him.

It was later that night as Oki was setting up waiting for Light’s call letting her know he was on his way back to her place.

Amaterasu sat across the room watching Oki as her head nodded from fighting sleep. Exhaustion was washing over Oki’s body and mind.

“Oki, I think you should turn in for the night. You will still hear your phone ring when Light calls. With your health not doing any better the last few days you need all the rest you can get.”

Oki looked over at Amaterasu, “I know but I do not want to be asleep when he gets here. I do not have much time left Ammy and I want to…”

Just then, Oki’s phone rang. She quickly answered it.

“Light?”

“Why are you not in bed? Do you know what time it is?” Light asks her.

“How do you know I am not in bed?” Oki pondered.

“You answered the phone too quick and you sound wiped out.” Light told her.

Oki giggled, “Your right I am not in bed, but I was waiting for you to call.”

“Go to bed Oki I will be there in no time. I am on my way out right now. I have your key so I can let myself in.”

“Alright, I will be waiting for you.” Oki said.

“You better be asleep when I get there. You need you’re rest.” Light told her.

“I will try, but I make no promises.”

“I will be there soon, Oki. I love you.” Light replied.

“I love you to, Light. Bye”

“Bye, Oki.”

Although Oki went to bed like Light requested to her. She could not sleep as her mind drifted in and out of thought of her inevitable death. Before Oki knew it she was fast asleep.

The next morning she awoke with Light’s arms wrapped around her as he sleeps next to her. Oki slowly moved so not to wake Light as she rolled over. Light slowly opened his eyes when he felt Oki move in his hold.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning.” Oki replied with a smile. “Did you sleep good last night?”

“The best I have had in weeks. Sleeping next to you was so relaxing. I must have laid here for two hours watching you sleep when I came in.” Light told her.

Oki blushed casting her eyes down. Light slowly lifted her head with his fingertips.

“You looked so peaceful while you were sleeping. I would say you look like an angel, but you always look like an angel to me.”

Light kissed her just as the alarm clock went off. They withdrew from the kiss as Light slowly and regretfully pulled himself from the bed.

Light sighed, “Back to Hell for the day.”

“Will I see you tonight?” Oki asks. She sat up in the bed watching Light get dressed for the day.

“Of course you will. Remember I have something planned for us tonight.” Light told her.

“I did not forget. I was just wondering when would, I see you tonight.”

Light walked over to the bed sitting on the edge of it. He kissed Oki on top of the head.

“I will call before I head this way so you will know. However, it will not be until after the sunsets.”

“Why so late?”

Light smiled as he got up from the bed, “You will see tonight.”

Light slid into his jacket. “I will call through out the day to see how you are doing.”

Oki nodded as Light stepped up to the bed once more kissing Oki good bye.

“Try to be ready, but do not push yourself too hard. I do not mind waiting a few extra minutes for you to get ready.”

“Alright…” Oki replied, “Have a good day at work today.”

Light chuckled sarcastically as he walked from her room, “I will talk to you around lunch time.”

Once back at headquarters Light went about setting up his evening with Oki. He did not realize the effort that it was going to take for him to do this.

As the hours past he finished what he could in the Kira investigation and brought his plans for the evening to a close, with a final phone call to his mother.

“Thanks Mom, you do not know what this means to me.” Light told her.

“I am glad I could help out Light. Oki must be very special to you for you to go to such lengths for her.” His mother replied.

Light became quite as his mind drifted to the first time he met Oki.

“Light are you still there?” His mother questioned.

“Oh… Yeah… Sorry mom. And yes Oki is very important to me. I just wish…” Light paused knowing that his mother did not know of Oki’s condition and at the time did not want to go into detail with her about it.

“Thanks mom…” Light tells her after his short pause.

Light knew his mother was smiling as he heard her say.

“Have fun tonight, Light.”

“I just hope Oki enjoys it.” Light told her.

“I am sure she will.”

“Thanks again mom. I will talk to you later.” Light said.

“Bye Light.” His mother replied.

“Bye”

As Light closed his phone he stood to his feet.

“I will see you tomorrow!” Light told L as he walked away from him, “It feels so much better with these cuffs off, finally,” Light said to himself while rubbing his wrists.

“Are you going to meet Misa tonight?” L inquired.

Light slightly looked at L over his shoulder, “No, I am taking Oki out tonight. What made you think I was meeting Misa?”

“Well she only stopped by for a few minutes today to see you. I thought since you both were free. She might have talked you into going out with her tonight.”

“Well it is not Misa I am seeing tonight.” Light informed L as he thought to himself. “You sat right next to me hearing everything I was planning. You know I am going to be with Oki and I swear if you show your face...”

“Well have fun.” L said pulling Light from his thoughts.

“I will as long as you stay out of the picture.” Light mumbled under his breath as he walked toward the door to leave.

“What was that?” L questioned barely hearing what Light said.

“It was nothing. Just thinking aloud.”

“Oh, well see you tomorrow.” L told him.

Light rushed home, knowing that he had to be at Oki’s by a strict time otherwise he will not be pleased with himself. Even though he was rushing, he couldn’t help but think of how the night was going to play out for them. Light stopped walking as he thought about the only thing he wanted tonight and that was for Oki to feel special. Wanting her to know that no matter what he will always loves her.

“Hey enough with the standing around, don’t you need to be somewhere?”

Ryuk appeared from the background. He stood behind Light peering over Light’s left shoulder.

“Or is there something I don’t see, do I need glasses?” Ryuk scratched his head and looked at Light.

“Nothing…” Light looked on ahead and started walking.

“For someone who is normally not anxious, this is another side of you that I have not seen, you are not ill are you?”

Ryuk seemed concerned with Light’s attitude, but he tried to the keep the bright side of things by keeping a little sense of humor in the atmosphere.

Light and Ryuk carried on walking down the street, not knowing that they had been walking in circles for the past ten minutes. Ryuk started to notice once they had passed Light’s house for the third time.

“Light! What are you doing?!” Ryuk asked him.

“I am thinking…” Light responded.

“Thinking?” Ryuk questioned back.

“Yes Ryuk…” Light paused as he turned looking at Ryuk over his shoulder as he walked. “Can you imagine... Me, Light, a cold blooded killer, in love… In love with the most amazing girl, and I have no rights to take her away.”

Light kicked a pebble as he walked.

“I am still confused,” Ryuk scratched his head.

“Ryuk, I have never loved nor have I ever felt the throb of my heart, but seeing Oki makes my heart jump-”

“What have you done with Light?” Ryuk interrupted.

“Listen to me Ryuk.” Light said with an even more serious look then before. “I can never write her name in the Death Note nor can you. I cannot take her life away,” Light stopped in front of his house and looked at the door.

“Ryuk, I need this night to be just me and Oki. I want it to be special for her, I want to show her how much I truly love her,” Light turned and looked at Ryuk, his face was stern, not one single muscle moved on Light’s face.

Ryuk understood straight away that he had to stay away for the night.

“Fine Light, have your night with Oki, but this is going to cost you.” Ryuk phased out as he spoke his last words.

“Sure,” Light muttered under his breath and walked in to the house.
