Actually, this is a form of vector. I use vectors as my base, and I just alter them into a more minimalistic product. They have never stopped being vectors.
Also, MLP is based on vectors. So putting this in a vector category is hardly unreasonable.

...I think you misunderstand what a vector is. The pixelization in this is way too sharp for this to be a proper vector. Vectors scale infinitly without degradation of quality, this is very clearly degraded from the source file.
MLP is not "based on vectors". That... Doesn't even make sense. Like, it actually doesn't make sense, or I'd try to explain what it is, but I don't know what you mean by that.

I made the image sharp edges for a specific reason. I've found, through my own experimentation, that the sharper edges tend to compress less when used as a background for a computer with a smaller screen, such as my 9-inch netbook. On a larger computer, they create a 'simple and clean' look, which is what I'm going for. If someone wishes to alias them on their own, they are more than happy to do so.
And as to the 'based on vectors' part, the definition of 'vector' is, "the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), to represent images in computer graphics" (Source here: [link] They even have a handy little diagram).
MLP is flash-based if I remember correctly, meaning its art falls well within the range of being vector art. Heck-- the vast majority of the base vectors I use are ones I find in a dA group CALLED MLP Vector club.
Just because I didn't alias the edges doesn't mean they aren't in the correct category, but thank you for your concern on the matter anyway ^^

I'm using a 23 inch display at 1920x1080 resolution, and the image's edges look fucked up. Like, the preview makes it look like something I'd add to my wallpaper folder, but the actual download doesn't look as good. So I don't know what you mean by "larger computer" (Well, I know you meant "larger display", but I mean that I don't know how much larger my display has to be before it's large enough for this to display well).
The page you linked me to was deleted in 2005, bro.

A period got in there by mistake, I apologize. [link]
I get you are not a fan of the way I have chosen to do my wallpapers. I respect that. But that gives you no right to bash them as you please. I made the edges jagged on purpose. I like the way it looks. No one is forcing you to use them, and plenty of people seem to like them just the way they are.
For someone who apparently takes pride in their critiquing skills for being harsh and, you certainly have missed the mark by far. I have yet to see you "offer ways of improving" during this entire farce of an unsolicited critique, stemming from how I categorize my art. And starting a discussion with something as inflammatory and, quite frankly, inappropriate as "Nigga, you high" hardly comes off as constructive.
It isn't professional, it isn't cute, it is a racial slur followed up by self righteous garbage all because you dislike the sharp edges. You cannot honestly expect yourself to be taken seriously when you attempt to raise an artistic discussion with an attitude like that. I am also a hard-ass when it comes to editing and critiquing, but I would never, EVER, stoop to such a disgusting level when stating my opinion on a piece.
In short, thank you sir for your opinion on my work, and I am truly sorry you don't find my style to your liking. You are free to alias the lines yourself if you feel this strongly about them, but I am perfectly content with my style and have no plans to change it, or my categorization, as a result of this conversation.
Sincerely,
Kitana Coldfire

It is vector, rendered as pixels so you can see it. But the original image is vecor. MLP is created in Flash, vector based, but rendered in videofiles, and shown on TV.

>rendered as pixels
No shit, sherlock.
Bro, you misunderstand me. I'm aware that vectors have to be rendered. I'm also aware that, due to being vectors they are rendered losslessly, so there is no degradation of quality. If you look at the full-res version of this, there is degradation of quality as a result of the image being distorted in some manner. This wallpaper does not utilize vectorization.
As for MLP... I'm calling bullshit, that seems woefully inefficient. A statement like that requires proof of some sort.

It could still be vector, but just with, hard edges? No smoothing, but still vector, I believe.

ah.

Whatever.

Yeah, I know shippings are a pretty touchy subject to some, so I'm going to do my best to make them as holistically friendly to all, if I do any more. Most likely that means trying to find 'sleeping' vectors like this one, because they're just plain cute.
However, I'll still be using the shipping names, if for nothing else the sake of title space. I only have a certain amount of characters I can use, and the word 'wallpaper' alone eats up almost a third of them. Glad you liked it regardless, and I've updated the description to make my reasoning a bit clearer. ^^
