Defining Features: Madara is the smallest leader of all of the Factions. Many are surprised that such a small dog holds a fearsome mental image.
Madara holds a very dominant and regal posture. Think of it as he carries extreme grace and takes steps in strides, but allows you to hear his claws clack against the ground in a way that an eagle's talons would.
Madara's eyes are a fluke gene and perhaps a recessive one from a few bloodlines back. Blue eyes may not be desirable for a breed standard, but the Admiral uses this to his advantage. Such piercing blue eyes have struck fear into other dogs, and many find it hard to meet eye contact with him.
As mentioned above, Madara has very intense eyes. Sometimes he finds himself communicating through eye contact. His eyes hold a very determined fire inside them... Perhaps containing a bit of naivety?
Madara is very well-groomed and feminine, and when off-duty, carries a nurturing and perhaps maternal presence.
Personality: Madara is a very lively, yet silent dog. Moving in his own way, he seems to drag others along with him and makes sure that his word is law. He appears to be strongly opinionated and sharp. Madara is a hard worker for his Faction and makes sure that they strive forward to success. Despite being small, he apparently is scary if his bad side is met. Does not tolerate any disrespect and makes sure that everyone in his Faction carries the same goal to move forward and prepare. It's rare to see, but Madara does have an easygoing side still left in him. When he's not on duty and completely comfortable in company such as his former teammates, he can occasionally make jokes, laugh, and smile. He also seems to rarely make "jokes" about starting a family eventually in certain company, and really has a taste for romance and love. Madara carries many scars which makes him an unstable leader, but he does his best anyhow as he can't stand following. He always seems to believe that he's right, but perhaps it's a facade in order to not question his own judgment. Madara is best described as a locked box and that you have to have a certain key to unlock him. When angry, Madara yells and snarls, gazing piercing eyes directly into his opposer. Madara may not seem like a physical threat due to his size, but he knows his stuff when needed for physical fights, such as lethal pressure points. Despite his reputation, Madara doesn't get angry much. He just carries an intimidating shadow along. It's also noted that around those he is interested in or likes, he follows them or observes them closer to get to know them, as he's awkward with actually saying how he feels.
Pre-Group History: Keiji, Madara's father, was a champion show dog and Amaya, Madara's mother, was a stray. Keiji, a purebred Shiba Inu, lived the life of a pampered pet in a large city, and was renowned throughout the canine community for his correctness and bloodlines. The Shiba was treated as though he were a prince, occasionally eating steak dinner with his proud owners and siring other purebred litters. Keiji was a very lively dog, but his life was a little too boring for his liking - so when he had the chance to slip his collar and run the city for awhile, he took the opportunity.
After running for a few miles, weaving carelessly through busy city streets and avoiding death by just a hair, Keiji met a young female stray mutt named Amaya. Amaya was a very sweet girl, offering comfort to the winded purebred, and even shared her living space behind a dumpster with him for a couple of days. Amaya was a gentle girl, a little more on the shyer side than Keiji was, so it was truly a surprise when Amaya had found out that she was pregnant with his puppies. Unfortunately, before she could tell him the news, Keiji had since returned to his owners, and was not able to reappear to his newfound mistress to raise their offspring.
Amaya was scared, to say the least, to grow puppies... It was hard enough to feed herself, as a stray dog. Nonetheless, she took on this unavoidable responsibility the best she could. As soon as a few blankets of snow surrounded the ground, Amaya gave birth to a litter of three puppies.
This must've been the hardest thing that the poor dog had ever done in her life, as she went many days without food in fear of her puppies being found and hurt or dying from cold, but luck was not on her side anyhow as two of the three pups had passed away from the cold. Not being able to stand the thought of losing the final pup, Amaya decided to do the best thing she could think of at the time; bring her child to a nice human.
Coincidentally, upon the evening of a certain special December holiday, a young girl named Jamie answered the door to a persistent scratching sound; and found a puppy sitting on the doorstep. Squealing in joy, she picked up the puppy and took it inside. Jamie was a nine year old girl who lived in the care of her elderly grandmother, her only relative other than her father, who was serving in the military. Both her grandmother and father had spoken over the phone about the puppy, and decided to let Jamie keep it. Not only did Madara make the ultimate Christmas gift, but he would also be able to liven up the girl's life a little more and give her a sense of companionship. Even though the pup was a little timid of humans at first, the two were a great match and almost immediately clicked.
The first year or so of Madara's life was all that any house dog could dream of. He went almost everywhere with Jamie and learned many tricks and the rules of the house. Madara was a highly intelligent animal and often performed his tricks in front of Jamie's friends. The two were an inseparable duo, and Madara was one of the sweetest and friendliest dogs on the block. He truly felt cherished and loved by his girl, and wouldn't trade it for anything.
But it must seem that all good things come to an end. As fall rolled around for the first time in Madara's life, Jamie had to go back to school. Madara never minded Jamie leaving because he knew she would always come back. But this time, she didn't. Everyday, Jamie's grandmother drove her to school. As the grandmother would come back after dropping her off, Madara realized something was off when not even she came back. He had no idea of the news til strange humans entered his house and put a lead around his neck and stuck a tranquilizer needle in his side. It was then that he realized Jamie and her grandmother were never coming back, but he never knew that they had died in a brutal car crash.
Soon, Madara had awoken in a dark room with walls made of brick and a thick, musky smell of other dogs. There had been a group of them waiting for this new dog to wake up. Madara didn't take to this well, still stressed from earlier, and lunged at one of the dogs... Only to be knocked down on his back from the side. Looking down at him from above was a German Shepherd with a stern expression that melted to an amused grin. "Ya got guts, kid. Welcome to the military."
Madara had absolutely no idea how to take this. Distressed, he shut away the other dogs for awhile til he was able to collect himself. It had appeared that the humans who stopped by his house were to send him off to Jamie's father, who could not return home, even for the burials of his mother and daughter... And now, Madara was unbelievably far from home and in a completely different area than being a soft, pampered house pet. These dogs were those who dodged bullets, passed messages, protected the base, and so much more.. It was truly unbelievable. But did this mean that Madara was going to get the same training and treatment as these other rough military dogs? The German Shepherd from before, who called himself Franz, tried his best to offer support to Madara, who eventually took it, crying into his fur. He lost Jamie, the person who rescued him from the freezing streets.. Despite Franz' compassionate and charming self, it was known that he was the designated leader of the many dogs. As Madara had much more socialization with humans rather than other dogs, getting along with a bunch of brash military dogs wasn't something that he found himself frequenting til he got to know everyone from afar. He was also still grieving the loss of his beloved owner, which had been something that often got cut short. Especially when it was time to meet his new owner; Jamie's father, Daniel.
Madara could hardly believe that this hulking giant of a man could be related so someone as sweet and little as Jamie was. Daniel was very loud, swore and drank a lot, and wasn't a kind and gentle human like the ones he had became accustomed to knowing. As it became clear to him that Madara was nowhere near what was needed to become a canine soldier, Madara was quickly cast into shape and of high expectations. Madara realized that Daniel was grieving over the loss of his family, but ultimately was very harsh on the dog in the process. When the training sessions for the canine soldiers set in place, Madara watched in unexplained awe as Franz had instructed a mass of dogs on what to work on, where to move, and how to act and have the force of dogs obey. Franz was a noble leader and Madara often found himself following him like a duckling to its mother. He never seemed to mind though, and actually enjoyed Madara's company. Franz.. Gentle but stern at the same time. He was what Madara wanted to be.
Though Madara hadn't yet raced the battlefield, Franz reckoned that he was one of the quickest learners with high intelligence and quick wit. Sure, Madara was small, but he was also quick and proved useful to various tasks necessary to being a war dog. It seemed that the two's bond had started to grow bit by bit unconsciously, and Franz let Madara command the ranking below to expand his strategy skills. It seemed that Madara had picked up on his mannerisms and easily grasped the gist of things.
It wasn't too long after Madara had achieved his high status that it was time to be let out on the battlefield. This was absolutely horrible. The strong scent of metal, heat, gunpowder, people and dogs collapsing.. It was very hard to not be scared, but Madara focused on his task, running next to Franz. Madara had so badly wanted to turn back and run to safety, but remained commanding soldiers with the help of his leaderly authority, feeling brave alongside him. As Madara was able to swiftly complete a variety of tasks and in a speedy amount of time, Daniel had eased up greatly on Madara and the two began to mutually understand each other's company more and more. As Daniel had been the head of this unit's force, Madara had fathomed the responsibility of being a part of representation.
This gruesome tour lasted an endless span of two years. It wasn't easy as it sounds, moving up rankings. It was very draining, but as Madara kept true to his strong leadership values, he decided to always push himself forward. Franz and Madara were now announced to be on equal ground, much to many of the canine soldiers' disagreement. Madara had often found himself admiring how he and Franz worked together, as Madara was more of the dominant leader where Franz was the compassionate one. The two had really learned to balance the canine force on their shoulders together and carry on.
Sadly, on one of the final operations of this tour, almost all of the canine units were to sniff out unused underground tunnels in order to pass along the human soldiers through it. Madara and Franz had told the other members on the canine force that passing through the second tunnel would be too dangerous, but some of the newer force members had bickered that their leaders were cowards. As Madara was about to snap at the argumentative ones, Franz stopped him, telling him that he would lead his force into the second tunnel and Madara could lead the other through the main tunnel. With much reassurance, Franz had left with a larger unit and left Madara with the smaller. This had proved to be a fatal mistake, as Madara heard the nearby explosion. Realizing what had happened, rage, which masked grief and guilt, built up in him. As some of the other dogs hadn't been aware of Madara's reasoning, he used the other unit's deaths as a way of portrayal against anyone who stood against his word and that he personally sent them to their untimely dooms. Not wanting to see any more of his friends die, Madara led the rest of the unit through the tunnel, clearing it safely with his observance. Madara made sure to never appear soft or passive again, as he couldn't deal with the death of anymore of his comrades. His general sharpness had instilled fear into his force, and soon enough, all dogs were obeying his word and working as a pack instead of having multiple disagreements. Madara had eventually successfully reigned complete dominance over the remaining canine militia, and commanded them to strive forward. With his swift strategy and elegant grace, Madara had finished serving time with the other dogs.
The Shiba mix and his soldiers found their new home in a freshly built military base born outside a remote town known as Canidale. The canine soldiers had either been sent there to live out their days til needed once more or go with them to live there for awhile and help train new canine soldiers for the next tour.
This new change of scenery was something that Madara had silently appreciated and took in the beauty of the semi-rural land that was the outskirts of Canidale. With his remaining followers, Madara still asserts heavy dominance over his soldiers and instills fear into anyone who tries against him. Nonetheless, he secretly enjoys watching new members grow into all that they can be, and now associates the dogs into separate working groups with their own responsibilities.
