Call me an absolute bastard but I couldn't help going this way for the comic...it's all I could think of when I first saw the R3, and try as I might, I couldn't think of another angle for the fight to start off from. Note that it's Just Vincent being an idiot and mistaking something for something else.I'm sure all my designs look alot like something else as well, its always a coincidence.
For anyone who hasn't seen Neon Genesis this will make absolutely no sense, and neither will the third page, so feel free to raise an eyebrow in dissatisfaction ^__^

You know, before round 1 started, someone else made the same comparison, and at that point I had never watched Evangelion. Their comment obligated me to watch it. Great series too.

Don't worry about it! It happens to everyone! One of my first comics, stolen generation, had mechs in it that I thought were incredibly original...turns out there was this game called Zone of the Enders with very simmilar designs XD

Ha ha, I can't wait to see both sides of the match, you as the one who conquered me and as a pretty awesome comic artist with lots of experience, and Balrogon as my friend and as a rapidly improving artist who keeps on doing unexpected things (at least, I think they're unexpected)
