Description

Squimodos.
That’s allll today was about.
Squimodos.
Those funny lumpy snake things, he loved them, they were so silly…

So why couldn’t he stop thinking about the monster?

Loona was rambling about something again… she was good like that, always ready and willing to give out information in a more easily digestible format, but he couldn’t focus about that right now.
The teacher and her son too, talking about something insignificant as always.
He wasn’t here to learn… not about Squimodos at least… not anymore.
He wanted to learn, certainly… learn why it wouldn’t leave.

Miss Treasure told him “The visions will stop eventually, you just have to give your 'kardia and brain a moment to adjust to the ether in the grove after the wyld seal.”
And they were right! The visions did stop, the monster wasn’t peeking out of corners anymore, constantly monitoring him and other folk around him in Willow Valley… but that wasn’t the issue anymore.
Anywhere he went, she was there.
The blue one.
Loona called her a folk, just a regular old folk.
But Tennie knew.
He knew she was more than that.
More than that to him.
He called her an angel, the light to the monster's darkness, only distinguishable by colour alone.
Her bright blazing purple eyes, the soft blue pelt with accompanying navy hair.
The monster's scary cold white star, the inky black skin and sharp claws.
The monster towered over the angel's soft calming glow.
Just like the Squimodo that sat in front of him.

Strangely, the female Squimodo that gazed down at him was like a combo of both the angel and the monster.
The soft blue scales and the striking purple eyes, and the tall strength and sharp claws.
Such a strong aura from such a squishy creature Tennie thought to himself in less refined words.
Despite the creature's beauty in resemblance to the light, the dusty lavender kit couldn’t help but barely see the motherly grace of the angel in the Squimodo.
Just the monster, in its scary bloodthirsty stance with its piercing cold star for eyes.

“Tenten” Loona’s voice sliced through the fear brewing in the child’s stomach like a hot knife through butter.
“Tenten, are you okay? Your tail’s gone all droopy.” She reiterated, emphasising his current mood to him.
Mtendere nodded, signing in response, ‘All fine. Just lost in thought.’
“Well alrighty then” Loona giggled “Hey, there’s a Nudibark exhibit nearby, wanna go sneak off to see it?”
Excitedly Mtendere stomped his claws to the ground, his eyes sparkling in delight as Loona took him by the hand and led him off.

As the pair walked Mtendere couldn’t help but look back for a moment, gazing upon the Squimodo still watching him. Through his thoughts he could only make clear one sentence.
‘Angel of death’
