I didnt make the barbie but I did do the torching : ). I did a burned barbie before and my art teacher thought it was so neat that we actually did it at school for a grade!! haha. It was in my final year of art class and it was in an upper level-only 3 people in the class! It was lots of fun. We took a giant metal bucket that was filled with sand (we used it for casting metal) and we each brought in a barbie/off brand barbie style doll and we stuck their feet in the sand then put a little lighter fluid on them and took out a torch to the doll until it looked how we wanted it then we blasted it with a fire extinguisher so it did not burn completely. It was a pretty funny sight. We did it out in a courtyard walkway outside but still in the inner part of the school grounds. It was a windy day too and people started coming out asking about the weird burning smells! hahaha! My art teacher said it was art and no one bothered us. . . . yes....setting barbies on fire.... XD My art teacher and I were very close and always coming up with new things together : ) hahahaha! XD This is the result : )
If you do the same I would recommended being VERY careful!! My only regret is that the fire extinguisher left a chalky yellow residue on the doll and I have tried to wipe all of it off but I always find it in places. Dousing it with water might work best.
Afterward, I just used some very strong glue to glue a peg to her underside and then into a hole burrowed into a piece of painted wood. This was the hardest part because she kept wanting to fall because of the flimsy support X_X now that the glue has dried it's very stable : )

Haha! Exactly : ) I wish I could find the photos from the original barbie I burned. I have a photo of her profile, she has no hair at the time and all you can see is the silhouette of her face against the sky and the flames replace the hairs on her head : )
