Description Okay, so I picked up Clip Studio Paint way back at the end of November with a pretty good Black Friday Deal to replace my long lost Manga Studio 4, but I haven't had a chance to play around with it until now. So, I'm going to do a quick little two page snippet thing about how Hephaestus first met Anubis in DI-verse to test it out. Rishi and I talked about this awhile ago and figured that Heph and Ani didn't meet until well after the old religions fell, so this is sometime in the Early Middle Ages and somewhere in Europe.

Impressions so far: CSP has an interesting tool set, and, of course, it's set up for comics. It's not quite as intuitive to use as Manga Studio was, but we'll see how it goes as I use it more. The actual coloring tools are... interesting. The ones I've been using so far lend themselves to a more painterly style. I do really like their pencil tool for sketching. I also used it for the final lines this time around. Coloring took a LOT longer than I'm used to spending on a piece, though, but that'll probably get better as I get used to the program more. On to page 2!

This version of Ani belongs to me; Heph belongs to Rishi.

It takes practice but I think you're getting the hang of it real quick!

Yep. It's just a little two-page snippet to help familiarize myself with the new program. I'm glad you're liking it, though. ^^

Oh sounds like a good way to practice and learn the program!

It does take time to get use to new programs. I never tried my Manga Studio program... I just used Photoshop instead.

Photoshop's my usual program, but for some reason, it's been glitching lately. I did just Manga Studio 3 and 4 for Strawberry Syrup, but then I got a new laptop and couldn't find the disc. -_-;;

Ah. I have all my discs in a single tower and a tote. I do hope I never lose those... If I do, I'm screwed.

At least you have made a good recovery. Seems like the new program is working just fine from what I can see.

Yeah, I thought I knew where it was, but alas... I'm sure it will turn up at some point.

Verdict's still out on the new one - I'll start on Page 2 this weekend.

Set up for comics, eh? That sounds nifty, how long did it take?

Kitsune64 In reply to Timcreo [2017-01-30 04:23:55 +0000 UTC]

Yep. It's got a whole set of tools specifically designed for comics, such as optional (and fully adjustable) guidelines to mark the live area, bleed, and trim, a panel cutter tool, and the ability to create multi-page stories and see the pages in an on-screen window so that you can switch between them with ease.

As for this page, I started it four days ago and spent several hours on it per day, but a lot of time was spend just figuring out how things worked, so we'll see how long Page 2 takes.

Eh, I see; about the same time it takes me to do just one comic page, at just a few elements a day on my program, which is the five weekdays of the week.

Like I said, part of it has been learning the program. With previous versions of the program, it went much faster. If you're interested, check it out on the Smith Micro website.

Which program do you use?

I use Adobe Illustrator. I know it's normally for simpler graphics, but I've made some ways for myself with using it for the art I do.
