To me, the shades on the foliage are not bad at all on the whole. Perhaps the "arc" of foliage above the fire looks a bit strange...
And I love the "bird-like things"

I'm glad you like it, though i don't really like how the fire turned out and i'm also not pleased with the lighting (and the whole picture actually... 
Actually in this picture i wanted to practise the light and shade created by fire on the foliage but it seemed so empty without any figures standing or sitting near the fire.... and i didn't want to draw people so instead i just drew these bird-like things (I'm a bit obsessed with these creatures recently
