She watched from under her lashes as her demon finished wrapping the scarf and blanket around her shoulders. "Honestly Damion, Its just a small cold." But didn't stop his fusing when he settled the blanket to shield her head from the falling flakes.

She was snugly wrapped in multiple layers, while Damion--who always seemed to be impenetrable of the colds sharp bite--only wore his scarf along with the black sweater she made him. It was much thicker than his usual black clothing, and didn't cling to his body like a second skin. Though she had a suspicion that he only wore the sweater to indulge her, even if it did have little snowflakes etched into the sleeves.

Damion narrowed his eyes when she made another sniffling sound, her nose even started to resemble a holly berry. "Small or not, I am not risking you getting worse." He could still recall how weak she had become when she had gotten sick. So, he took every precaution he could think of, even took in the account of her stubbornness that rivaled his own.

Instead of laying in bed like she was suppose to, she insisted on siting on the outside balcony so she could watch the people of the village celebrate the New Year at the stroke of Midnight. It was one of the rare nights of the year where man could walk outside and not fear the soul eaters. She would have been down there celebrating with them if she hadn't of gotten a stupid cold.

"Here," he spoke as he handed her a warm cup of coco. Her cup was dwarf in size compared to Damion's massive cup. She took the warm cup gladly, inhaling the sweet scent before cautiously taking a sip.

"I'm sorry you can't celebrate with them," Damion said as he gestured towards the village. She had been so excited to show him what New Year was all about. He had always watched from a distance, but never thought to indulge any further. He too, had been looking forward to celebrating the years end with Sophie.

"It's not your fault I got sick." She scooted over until she laid against his side. "Besides, your here with me. That's all I need."

Her words managed a smile out of him, his arm wrapping around her petite shoulders as they continued to watch, waiting for the signs of the new year.
Then ribbons of colors shot across the sky, before a loud band was heard over head. Over and over fireworks were launched, creating blossoming images of fiery flowers blooming before dying out, only to have another firework replace it with a more dazzling display.
Sophie looked up to see the awe in Damion's eyes as he took it all in.
'Sick or not, there's nowhere else I'd rather be than here with him.'

"Happy New Year, Damion."

He glanced down at her, fascinated by the different lights that danced across her face from the fireworks. "Happy New Year."He leaned down to lay a kiss upon her heated brow, and intended to get her straight to bed after this.
