Numb. That's how she felt as she gripped the bloody knife in her hands and he laid there, in a pool of his own blood. She couldn't believe what she had done, what he had tried to do to her, what she had almost let him do to her, the man she thought she knew was not there.

The man with silver melancholy eyes who had once swept her off her feet was no longer here. The one who had once called her his beloved, his love, his princess, his everything, had to die. Finding out this way was even harder, and she almost didn't kill him, but she did. She had made sure of it when she had plunged that knife into his chest. In his place, in his body, was a demon. A demon with red eyes, who was thirsty for blood, death and evil.

Suddenly she heard laughing, a faint laughter that was familiar to her, and it was coming from the body. She gripped the knife tighter and stared as it started to move.
"I will end your wretched family..." he said through gritted teeth. "For trapping me in that hellhole for thousands of years... Your family will pay for what they did to me." She backed away from him, he was still the demon but he was weak. She had time to escape.

"You may have killed my parents, and all my siblings, but you will never kill me..." she said as she left the room, outside to the terrace. "I'll make sure of it." As she ran farther and father away from the estate, the moon shone brightly in the sky, and behind it was The Second Moon of Zaecina, the scarlet moon. As she ran she kept hearing his voice, laughing, forever engraved in her mind.
