From my Off the Porch series. I'm disabled with a brain injury and chronic headache, plus i've been very ill with other health problems, so i've been too ill to leave the house very much, so most of my outdoors photos have been taken from my front or back porch.

This photo pretty much sums up how i feel about being too ill to leave the house. Before i started having these current health probs, my health was fairly stable for me - i was on a really good sleep schedule, coz my sleep disorder was under control. I was able to read poetry. I was waking up "early" in the day, for me, when the sun was well up in the sky, and eating breakfast at the kitchen table - instead of in bed or on the couch. And my kitchen table was usable, rather than being covered in stuff i haven't the brain power nor energy to manage. It was so lovely, sitting in the kitchen sunlight, eating breakfast, reading Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath and Joan Didion (essays not poems but still i love her), sometimes writing in my journal. Oh, how i miss that time.

This photo - is about missing the spring when it's fall - it about missing being in good health when your ill - it's about missing being able to leave the porch but being able to at least look at the outside world. It's about longing for something you have no control over.
