Description uhm, well, yes. that's Ukraine.
don't kill me, don't kill me!

after I'd drawn Ukraine vs Poland sketch for ~Gladka I thought: "Hm, why not to draw her totally, totally, badass-like? together with that strange Cossack haircut?"
as a result, there's ugly and scary Ukraine, but I'm fine with it; Cossacks weren't pretty with their bald heads xd

(on my first sketch she was prettier, but it wasn't dynamic at all; so I prefer that one)

ahh, that was so long time ago...

Zaporożanka is (I think) a Polish word for a female living in Zaporoże (english "Zaporizhia", Ukrainian "Запорожжя"), a region where Zaporozhian Cossacks were from.

don't kill me, please...?

Ukraine (character) belongs to H.H.

SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH:

I am an cossack myself, and I do hail from that specific clan. :3 But, to be exact, Cossacks are a mix of many different things, like Ukrainian and Russian and Turkish. If you watch Russian movies, Taras Bulba had many of the cossacks dying in the name of Russia, and usually exclaiming "For Russia" or "For the Tsar".

oh, I know about that. But I thought Zaporozhian Cossacks were rather Ukrainian? these were Zaporozhian Cossacks that took part in Chmielnicki Uprising, am I right? (sorry for Polish spelling, I don't know any other) and they are considered rather as Ukrainians in Poland and I meant that period of time, while drawing this picture. I'm sorry if it made you somehow confused or something :3

Sorry it took me awhile. The Zaporozhians also took part in protecting the Tsar when Poland had control over Russia. A Zaporozhian Cossack, is, however, on the coat of arms of Ukraine. The Khlemnytsky Uprising, which is the Russian and Ukrainian spelling, also protected those of the Eastern Orthodox Faith, which isn't so much the official religion of the Ukraine as it is of Russia. On a note, Cossacks also were a large part of Russian expansion, which the Russian Empire at that time included many Slavic cultures.

I didn't know about most of these things. (thank you). seems that I have to read something about Ukraine, Cossacks etc., as it's interesting subject anyway. As for Khlemnytsky Uprising... Poland's point of view is definately somehow different; additionaly Sienkiewicz wrote a book about it, "Ogniem i mieczem" ("By fire and the sword") and because of that book for most Polish people Cossack = Ukrainian, I think. but I don't think they protected somehow Russians back then... nor that it had something to do with Russia. that's my opinion, I gonna check it somewhere.
once again, thank you for that comment ^^.

Well, a lot of Cossack hosts are either from Russia or Ukraine. There are I think Polish Cossack hosts. I'm not sure.

Great job with the pose!
