There was one hobo in front of a office building with a sign that said 'I bet you can't hit this sign with a quarter!'
and there were all these people that gathered and started to throw him change.

Not all hobos are bums. Not all hobos are beggars. I am a hobo, I make a decent income without begging, I run my own business, and I have bank accounts. Don't be judgmental unless you at least understand it.

My friend's dad randomly waved to someone outside the car window and we were like "Who're you waving to?" and he was all "I was waving to a hobo!"
And that makes hobos awesome in our book, because he is an awesome dad.

I give some food or a odd job. I rarely ever give cash since I don't like buying them booze or crack. Keep in mind I go in abandoned buildings and have hung out - under bridges etc. I love it when the 'churchies' come out and mistake me for homeless and hand me a sandwich too. I usually hand it off later to one of the crazies that the regular guys avoid.

Besides a Hobo works (comes from migrant farm workers "hoe boys"). A hobo never begs. I deal a lot with 'homless' some are crazy and a lot live that as a life style because they dont want responsibility and/or have drug habits. I might take one of my hobo's up on an offer and jump a train for a week.

The one thing you have to watch out for in hobos, is when they congregate.
I gave a hobo a ten, then another approached and asked for some money....
