I'm okay with people shipping this if they want to, but I most definitely don't ship it because;
1. Fancy Pants is either married or has a girlfriend in my mind (Fleur De Lis/Fleur Dis Lee).
2.Β The show has kind of "ruined" Fancy Pants now, in my opinion.

As you should. Most people who try to claim that Spike is too young for Rarity probably don't even bother to consider the facts that I amongst several other Sparity fans have pointed out a million times. Besides, who are they to say that they're right and we're wrong when we haven't been given an official say on the matter either way? I point out facts that make it POSSIBLE that Spike is closer to her age than it may seem, but even at that, I don't try to claim that he REALLY is, and that my headcanon is the factual one. The ignorance and hate in this fandom never ceases to amaze me. -_-

Yeah this ship is pretty ridiculous to me too. Rarity did seem to have somewhat of an interest in him, but I don't think he felt the same, but was rather just being nice to her, since she was a guest. As for that photoshoot, Rarity did appear to be giving him "that look", but upon closer inspection, his look in that photo wasn't exactly the same as the look she was giving him. It seemed like more of a "Um...why is she looking at me like that?" kind of look, if you ask me. Plus, since Rarity is so enamored with royalty in general and has had many pointless crushes, this just seemed like yet another meaningless one. Plus, he was never mentioned, seen, or even referenced after this episode. No mention of him or Rarity thinking to herself that he may be the one, or anything. He was basically forgotten about after the episode. Also, I find it ironic and hypocritical that people accuse Spike of being too young for Rarity, when Fancy Pants is probably MUCH OLDER than Rarity than Rarity is compared to Spike. Considering that Spike was hatched when Twilight was just a filly, he's probably about in his teens, maybe a pre-teen (maybe 12) at the very youngest. And probably only a few years younger than her, since he's only a few years younger than Twilight (from what I've heard and seem to remember) all the mane six are around the same age. He more than likely only appears young because dragons grow faster based on their greed, and he generally suppresses his. Also, he's really only a "baby dragon" by dragon standards, and not necessarily in pony years/physical years. As for Fancy Pants, if one were to make a guess, he's probably AT LEAST in his 50s. It truly surprises me how people can treat what's probably only a few year difference between Spike and Rarity like it's the biggest deal ever, but pay what's probably a far bigger difference between Fancy Pants and Rarity like it's nothing. Though a lot probably think it's much bigger than just a few years, without bothering to think about the facts, like the ones I pointed out. A shame, really. Lastly, while there may be no proof that Fleur de Lis is married to, or even dating Fancy Pants, there's also no proof that she isn't, either.
I'm all for respecting opinions about different couples, but there seems to be a lot of extremism about this one, especially when it's compared to Sparity. It only encourages the hate bots who think they know everything about Spike's age. I still don't care for this couple even by itself, but the hate bots like that only make it that much worse. *facehoof*

Many people hate it because it's supposedly pedophilia. But when one actually stops to think about the facts like how long ago he was hatched and that dragons grow faster based on their greed, it makes it seem highly unlikely that Spike is still a child, despite his young appearance. And to be fair, Spikebelle just doesn't cut it for me. I understand the whole "guy loves big sister, but big sister doesn't love him, but little sister loves him and they eventually end up together" plot that many people point to, but it just shouldn't be that way in this case. Secret of My Excess really seemed to heavily imply that Spike's feelings for her were stronger than just some silly crush, to the extent that he was willing to give something up for her. She also seemed to acknowledge his feelings and kindness towards her even more than usual, and even thought something of it, even if she still didn't return the feelings. Episodes like this and other nice, even if not quite romantic, moments like this give me hope that the couple may still have a chance some time in the future. But we haven't had a good episode like that since season 2, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up on Sparity yet. Spikebelle just feels like kind of a shameless alternative and like the nice moments that Spike and Rarity have had would have just gone to waste.

In the real world, fillies are less than one year old, but in the case of MLP, it also seems to refer to young ponies, even the ages of 5 or 6. Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle and Applebloom are considered fillies too, but they're obviously not as young as only one or less. I'd say Twilight was about five herself, with Rarity being the same age, so that would only make Spike that much younger than her.

When I first watched the show, I, too, found Spike's crush to be a silly kid crush, especially when he tried to impress her with desperate attempts such as wearing a mustache. But then Secret of My Excess came along, and he showed a lot more maturity in his crush, and I changed my mind.

Sparity hate bots seem to be all pretty much the same. "But he's a baby dragon, and she's an adult pony." "He's a child, acts like a child, is treated like one, and his crush on her is just a childhood crush that he'll eventually get over." "She's obviously never going to feel the same way, and is pretty much just being nice to him. He needs to give up." But never do they acknowledge that...

-Dragons grow faster based on their greed, as we've seen, and the fact that Spike generally suppresses his could easily explain his young appearance.
-While having some child-like traits, there have also been times where he's shown maturity, including in his crush. Not to mention, the mane 6 often leave him in charge of many heavy responsibilities. And I'm pretty sure he went off on royal Canterlot business BY HIMSELF once.
-Forementioned episode proves that she does think something of his feelings, regardless of if she has yet to return them or not. Plus, I've seen many series in which the girl takes a good few seasons to actually return the feelings.
I guess it's more fun to jump aboard the hate bandwagon and assume that he must be too young just because he looks it and semi-acts it. Wouldn't want to be bothered to do your research and consider the facts, lest it waste precious minutes of your day by doing so.
By the way, I'm just curious, do you prefer Spikebelle or Applespike, seeing as how you seem to support both?

All of those statements are true. Also, I don't mind age gaps in fiction. It's fiction, its not like its hurting anyone.
Honestly, Sweetiespike is adorable to me, and seeing as Sweetie doesn't always act like Rarity, she is a kind filly, sometimes beingΒ immature. Sweetie is probably more immature then spike, and I feel as if their first relationship would be a friend relationship, with Sweetie being a crazy little girl who everybody just loves. Sweetie would probably compliment spike, and she could help Spike with trying to get Rarity to fall for him. Then, Sweetie Belle could possibly fall for him after some time.
Applespike first came to me at 'Spike At Your Service' And I always though AJ had a small crush on Spike afterwards. Seeing as she didn't need his help, maybe trying to prove herself she doesn't need his(spike's) help if they did get in a relationship. Applespike just clicks in my mind.
I honestly Love/Like all pairings for the same meter. Honestly, I prefer both.
