WARNING! A RANTING WALL OF TEXT AHEAD!
In my opinion, Charlie Brown deserves better. Every time something goes wrong, or if he tried his best, but still failed, his "friends" gang up on him and borderline attack him, pin the blame on him or just show no appreciation for doing what they asked them to do. In "You're In Love, Charlie Brown", during the football game, his team lost because LUCY, being the casual bully she is kept pulling the ball away before Charlie could kick it like she always does, resulting in him falling on his back and getting embarrassed in front of an entire crowd. And Peppermint Patty blames CHARLIE for their loss. In "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown", When the other kids asked Charlie to bring a Christmas tree for a play at their school. He does so, but the tree he brought to his school was small, fragile and had leaves that were falling off. Instead of appreciating Charlie for doing what they asked, they go off on the poor boy, berating him and calling him a "blockhead". Even if it wasn't in the best condition, at LEAST he got them a tree. If anyone gave me a tiny fragile christmas tree, I'd take it. In "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving", Peppermint Patty invites herself along with Marcy, Franklin and Linus to Charlie's house on Thanksgiving day. Charlie can't cook very well, so he, Linus and Snoopy improvise by preparing their own version of a Thanksgiving "dinner". When it was time to eat, Peppermint Patty goes off saying "what Blockhead cooked all this?!" She did not appreciate the food. Well, Peppermint Patty, what do you expect? Charlie can't cook up a Gordon Ramsay level dinner by himself. At least she apologized. In the song 'Poor Sweet Baby' from "It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown", a scene shows Charlie playing baseball, but when he failed to catch the ball, the other children (except for Heather, the little redheaded girl) gang up on him and yell in his face as if he killed someone, leaving him in tears. At least Heather gave him some comfort and wiped his tears away. Yeah these are some examples that Charlie Brown gets mistreated too much. Plus, I like Heather and Pigpen. They're the only Peanuts children who don't mistreat Charlie when an unfortunate incident happens.
