i love the way you have done the boy, but other things like the bird and background have room for improvement. the bird's red feathers for one need to be more than just bumpy lines. The yellow feathers are good but as they go into red they start to look less realistic. most of all the feathers on a bird's wings are long and when they come into land their wings curve inward as they try to slow themselves down so the don't crash into what they want to land on. i also think you could have put more colours into the wings, it's a phoenix right, well then it could maybe have more colours like black for smoke and i just find using all kinds of colours can help improve a drawing. the head of the bird is great and realistic i don't know about those three little feathers though, they sort of (don't mean to be harsh but) take away from that realism. Now, the stars in the back confuse me because the stars in the picture are only in the light which isn't right i am pretty sure, you know when ever there is a light and it's night time it stops you from being able to see the stars. so if you had put the stars were only in the dark spots of the picture that may have improved it i think. the feet are not really in the right position but RiddleDragon already talked about that so i wont. over all it's amazing, the boy is really well done and the picture is pulled together well! I feel it helps to have a good reference when drawing something new to you. umm, i thinks that's it, it's really good, i hope you didn't think i was mean...

Hi again! Alright so lets get to this shall we. First and for most the human named Mogar. For the most part he is drawn very well, anatomy looks amazing, the facial expression is wonderful, and his clothing[or lack there of], the fur is done amazingly. The mountains in the background look very good, but I see a blue-green color blurred right about the peak on the left side of the picture. I am sure you were trying to create something along the lines of an aurora borealis, at least that is what it looks like. While it is a good start, if that is what you were going for, it should spread farther across the sky and have a few more colors in it. Last but not least the bird, while the anatomy and colors of the bird are very well done, there are just a few things that don't sit right. First is the positioning, it loos like you were trying to make it look like it was going to either land on Mogars leather sleeve or grab him and fly off with him, if so I would have moved the bird back, because right now it looks like the bird is going to grab his bare hand. That would be painful. Last nit-pick with the bird is the wings. I know wings are hard, but from what I can see the small feathers go all the or are very close to the top of the wing, as well as the larger feather are not one big wing. Wings layer their feathers. Over all is it not that bad, the colors look wonderful and the scene give off a feeling of amazement. Hope to see more amazing pictures like this from you in the future, love you!

That's because that's exactly who the bird is based off

According to the Banjo Kazooie wiki, "SheΒ is a red-crested breegull..." I didn't know either.
