“H-Hey Gypsy, I was wondering if you…”

“For the last time no Fast Flame! I don’t like you in any way and will never do! I have a coltfriend so leave me alone!”

“A… A coltfriend?”

“That’s right. And I’m moving to Canterlot to be with him, alone! Hopefully I won’t see you again!” Gypsy turns and walks away. “It wasn’t a pleasure to meet you!”

After she’s gone, Fast Flame falls to the floor, crying. A blue Pegasus comes from a bush she was hiding in and approaches to him.

“That didn’t go as planned…” She said putting a hoof on Fast Flame’s back.

“I give up Starry! No more love for me, it just brings me pain!”

“Don’t give up on love Flamy, one day you will meet somepony that will love you as much as you will love her…”

“When?!” He said sobbing.

“When you never expect it… Just be patient…”

“Maybe you’re right… I should forget Gypsy… You know, Starry, for being young you are pretty smart, thanks!” Fast Flame said clearing his tears.

“You don’t have to thank me Flamy, that’s for what best friends are for!” Starflight said patting his head. “Now, come on! Let’s do something fun!”

“Let’s go to the library!”

“I said fun Flamy!”

“Come on, it will be fun! I bet there’s a new adventure of ‘Stallion Holmes’!”

Starflight sighed. “Fine… But then, we will do something fun, deal?”

“Deal!”

Both pegasi started their way to Golden Oaks Library. Fast Flame was still sad but tried to hide it with a smile, and happily talking to his best friend. But when they were on the other side of the road of the library, Fast Flame suddenly stopped.

“What’s wrong…?” Starflight asked, worried. Fast Flame did not reply, Starflight approached to him. He had a blank look, his mouth opened. The blue Pegasus tried to get his attention by softly hitting his head with her hoof but had no response. “Flamy?”

“Look…” The black Pegasus simply said, pointing with his hoof to a mare in front of the library. She was an Alicorn, her fur black and a blue long mane with white sparkles. Her Cutie Mark was three stars of different colors, red, yellow and blue, and she was slightly taller than other mares and her eyes were strange for some reason. They were blue but something about them called Flame’s attention, although he could only see one because the other one was behind her mane. Starflight looked at her too, but didn’t have the same astonished look than her best friend.

“An Alicorn… She lives with Princess Twilight, you didn’t know?” Fast Flame shook his head.

“I never saw her before… How long has she be living here?”

“She was always here, I’m surprised you never saw her!”

“Shh!” Fast Flame tried to warn his best friend that she was yelling but it was too late. The mare looked to their direction and Starflight hid. The black stallion didn’t move and looked directly to the Alicorn’s blue eye and smiled sheepishly. The Alicorn kept looking at him with a weird look before looking away, sad. Fast Flame slowly approached to her. She looked at him again and he smiled again.

“H-Hi… I-I’m… Flame, Rast Flare, I mean, Fast Flame…” The black Pegasus said completely nervous, he only had so much troubles speaking with Gypsy. Was it possible that he fell in love so fast?

“My name is… Aqua Shine…” She said the last muttering.

“Aqua Shine…? What a nice name… I… I didn’t see you before…” The mare looked down.

“It’s because I like to be alone… I want to be alone… A-Are you still here? Why?” Aqua Shine suddenly looked up to Fast Flame, her eyes were now dark blue. The black stallion noticed the change but decided to ignore it for now.

“Why wouldn’t I? I just met you and I want to know you better… I would be rude if I go after talking to you just a few seconds… Besides… I think that you’re a nice pony…”
Aqua didn’t know why, but her heart skipped a beat when she heard that. She slightly blushed. But Fast Flame didn’t notice it because he looked away blushing hard, hoping that she wouldn’t notice it. He spoke again looking down.

“I… Umm… I see that you are an Alicorn because… You have both wings and a horn… Stupid Flame, Stupid!”

“Yes I am… I’m a Princess… The Princess of the Stars…” Aqua Shine said in a low voice.

“P-Princess? You’re a…?” Fast Flame wasn’t able to talk so he bowed. “Sorry Your Highness… I did not know…”

“Please don’t do that… I don’t like it.” Aqua Shine said embarrassed. Fast Flame looked up.

“But you are a Princess… I have to…”

“You don’t have to do it Fast Flame… Seriously, I’m not like the rest of the princesses…” She said looking away.

The black Pegasus stood up again. “Sorry… What are you doing here? If you don’t mind me asking…”

“I live here…”

“I-I mean… Why were you just standing here…? You… You looked depressed…”

“I don’t want to talk about it…” Aqua Shine said as her eyes turned blue again. Again, Fast Flame ignored it and just approached to her.

“I don’t know what happened and you don’t have to tell me… I just want you to know that if I can do anything… You can count on me. We just met but… I think we can be friends…”
Aqua’s heart skipped another beat. Now she was getting annoyed because she didn’t know why it was doing that. But she didn’t want to burst in front of her new friend. Friend. That’s a word she found hard to say or believe.

“W-Why do you want to be my friend? You should run… Like everypony else does…” She said confused. Her eyes turning dark blue again.

“I don’t see why I should fear you… I only see a pretty mare who needs a friend… I’m willing to take that spot…”

Again, Aqua Shine blushed. Never a stranger called her pretty before. She would also hate being called that but for some reason she smiled too. Luckily her mane hid it because Fast Flame was close enough to see her. But she couldn’t stand to be any longer with these strange feelings without knowing what they meant, she had to know, ask somepony she trusts. And she knew who. The pony who looked after her since she was a filly, Princess Twilight.

“I-I have to go back to the library now!” The princess said heading to the library’s door. But just as her hoof was inches away from the door, Flame spoke one last time.
“Wait! You… We are seeing each other again right? I mean… I still want to know you better…”

Aqua didn’t move for a few moments, thinking what to do. Finally she turned and gave Fast Flame a true smile.

“Of course… Come here tomorrow… Friend.”

Fast Flame grinned. “Fantastic! I mean. See you tomorrow.”

Aqua opened the door and entered the library. When the door closed, Starflight came out from her hiding spot and approached to her best friend.

“Flamy…? ” Fast Flame looked at Starflight, smiling.

“I think I like her Starry…”
