Here's to all you up for giving this a try... Something that has helped me trememdously lately and that I'm more eager than anything to get to using more often... customised brushes.I decided to leave most of the fancy 'create your own base' stuff, the simple thing that can already open a door to people that never thought of trying it before.
I was inspired by the effects I saw in theworks of other artists and decided to mess around and try to see if I could recreate that. For some of my initial tryouts, it was mainly stuff like this: [link]
Please let me know if you see any typoes or things that are unclear, or something you think I should explain futher.
The character in the little sloppy painting is Gordon, btw.
Pen pressure died, but I'm sure I got the point down.

Unfortunately I can only work in SAI now because of some stupid bug with my everything that makes it so my tablet is confined to like two inches of screen. X_X
Anyway... The example at the bottom is ruffylicious yumyum. <3 A helpful tutorial! I shall be experimenting with it when I get my problem fixed. Maybe it won't be too late to catch up to your skiiiill ~ *epic pose*

Yeah, I usually go for SAI as well... but I'm starting to like photoshop again after finding out about brushes like this xD Still, it's more suited for painting rather than colouring anyway. I... might try out those special textured SAI brushes as well. Not sure, what I've seen of them so far was kinda fail haha.
If not I might try and whip up a SAI tuto or something one day seeing as it's getting so pupularrrr
