Background:

As a child, Natsumi grew up in Tsukigakure with her mother, father, brother and younger sister. Being the middle sibling, she often found herself being a handful, wanting as much attention as she could get. She studied harder than others and even learned her jutsu faster than others due to her intellect and adept learning curve being higher than most, graduating earlier than others around her year and becoming the youngest Tsukigakure chunin at 14 before being allowed to transfer to Konohagakure, rising through the Leaf's ANBU ranks just as fast as she had back in her old village. While in the ANBU, she met Kakashi Hatake and they became quick frienemies, where she would prank him and he'd get payback later that week. She also met Kurenai Yūhi, Asuma Sarutobi and Might Guy, all of whom she became fast friends with, minus Guy, who proclaimed her as his first ever female rival, with Kakashi being his male rival.

Natsumi and Kakashi's Frienemiship soon became a friendship after the deaths of Rin Nohara and Obito Uchiha, where Kakashi confided everything in her, with her promising to keep it between them. As the years passed, their friendship changed again into a romantic one, with Natsumi being the first to fall for Kakashi, whereas he was a little more reserved. Natsumi, however, kept their romantic relationship separate from their professional ones, as when she had to lead Team Kakashi when Kakashi was too ill and Yamato was busy. Eventually, though, they soon recognized their feelings for each other and, a few months before the Fourth Great Ninja War, began dating. She often teases him about his 'lateness' whenever he takes her out, but she doesn't hold it against him. Not long after the end of the war and a few months before Kakashi became Hokage, he asked for her hand and she accepted. A few months after he became Hokage, they were married with everyone congratulating them, including their close friends.
