It speaks worlds of both RD's friendship with Fluttershy, and her lack of common sense, to pick Fluttershy as her jousting partner. Pretty much anyone of the Mane Six would have made a better, more eager knight, but of course Dash goes with poor Flutters.

Well, all of them were busy doing other entertainment. Only Fluttershy seemed to not be doing much. That is why she probably picked her.
