Description Onwards West

Outside of Ken Caryl Ranch, Colorado....I happened upon this scene as I was driving. Now if this doesn't describe the American West then I don't know what does lol As I got outta the car to shoot this, I thought for a moment about that old wagon and kinda wondered how long it been there, and who all rode in it. Did it come all the way west during the 1800s, or was it maybe built out here?

This shot was actually really tricky to expose for, I REALLY wanted to get the atmosphere here and the color dead on. So I bracketed with about 10 shots, I just had to get the finer details in this one, and I really wanted the mood and atmosphere, considering the sky here.

All in all I suppose I am pretty happy with it. Let me know what YOU think!

The imagery this portrays is amazing; forgotten wagon train of the old west. Beautiful!

Hi John!
I know you don't have a great opinion about groups here but I'm extending an invitation to join a new group for "rusty and dusty" photos...we'd love to have you as a member as I know you find some wonderful rusty old stuff in Colorado

This shot looks absolutely amazing, the shadows on the hills look so so so cool...The only problem I have with this shot is that black border...it's just too big, I feel as if it actually pulls some of the attention away from the shot. But I still think it's most definitely an amazing shot, great work!

kkart In reply to wolf02 [2008-01-14 10:54:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Some do say that about the borders, but here is what I always say back at em---the shots you see in my gallery are actually scales down prints, I want people to actually see what they will get when purchasing my images Make sense??
