Whew! I started this back before making this account. It was going to be my new icon, but I got in over my head and it took forever to finish. x'D I'm not really happy with it. I still have NO idea how to animate the background. It's spinning all over the place. It's also really jerky. But I am not going back and adding inbetween frames. Too much work. >> I'm just happy that it's reached an acceptable state of completion.Since I'm all too aware of the problems with this, I'm not going to ask for any critique. But if you have some specific advice on how to fix it, I welcome the help! For now it's as good as done.
** I think it was inspired by *khaosdog 's animated icons ([link] ). Which just goes to prove that simpler is better.
Darn.As for the subject matter, deserts and crows are important features of Klak Klak's backstory. :3 So I guess he's spending a little quality time with both.

All in Photoshop 7.0. XD Though I had to transfer it to Flash to save as a flv file for DA. As far as I know, Photoshop can only export GIFs.

Haha, yes. XD I sort of did it in cycles. I sketched everything first, then inked everything, then did the backgrounds, then colored the lineart, and finally added light and dust effects. I think I would have gone insane if I finished each frame before moving on to the next.

I'm really not sure how long it took. I worked on it off and on throughout the year. xD But probably more than 40 hours.

I could only dream of doing something like this--I think you did the background really well, despite the mistakes it's still a really wonderful piece.

Thank you! XD I'm definitely gonna try something simpler the next time I do an animated background, and then work my way up. But I always like pushing myself in the beginning to see what I can do initially.

Thank you. It was hard, but photoshop helped a lot by letting me duplicate the background layer and manipulate a piece of it, so that I didn't have to redraw the entire thing each time. xD

Haha. XD That did throw me. I figured you meant one or the other. It's easier for me to comment on the "angles" though. Silly me, I drew the crow and klak klak before doing the background, so it was a pain to try and get them to match.

Eh, I would do the same. I have a hard time with backgrounds, so I probably would have left it a solid color. I would have never attempted a background like that, but you pulled it of amazingly. I love how the sand hills shift from one angle to another!

Thank you! ^^ And no, each frame has it's own background mostly. I think the few few frames that are a closeup have a static background, then I had to repaint it as it zoomed out. But instead of repainting each one from scratch, I duplicated the background from the previous frame and moved pieces around, shrunk it, and painted in around it. Let me know if that helps. I'm not sure I was very clear.
