Omg, you fell in love with the villain too! I knew I wasn't the only one! My mom is concerned about me liking the villans in stories the most. She thinks there's something wrong with me. I just look at her and remind her that she has a giant crush on a fictional elf from Lord of the Rings. (His name is Legalus) that gets her to leave me the hell alone for the rest of the day.

I always thought he was an awesome villain. Sure, even though The Nostalgia Critic said that he is probably the most forgettable character ever, I still think that Shan Yu is a cool villain.

One of the rare 'leader' villain in Disney, one who is actually charismatic. decisive, and perceptive. Probably the only Disney villain without intentional 'clown' moment (till his death that is).

1. Chernabog (He's the devil. Nothing is more evil than that.)
2. Judge Claude Frollo (Commited Genocide, and thinks everything he's doing is for God.)
3. Scar (Killing your own blood just to be king. Pretty evil.)
4. Maleficent (Powers of hell. What do you expect.)
5. Shan-Yu (Slaughtered villages and shows no mercy. Pretty cold I'll say.)
6. The Horned King (Tried to raise the undead to take over the world.)
7. Ursula (Pretty much had many merman and mermaids trapped in her lair for who knows many years.
8. Scroop (Truely very evil and one of those villains who truely shows it.)
9. The Coachman (He was like the only Disney Villain who got away with something, which no other Disney Villain hasn't.)
10. The Evil Queen (She wanted to kill Snow White just because she wanted to remain the fairest of all.)
That's my list.

wow, similar.
1. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness (destroyed many worlds and almost obliterated the universe, i count him cause he was technically disney)
2. Judge Claude Frollo (same reason as you)
3. Shan-Yu (same reason as you and i played in a play so i feel a connection to the guy now)
4. oogie boogie (loves to gamble, cheats, and captured Santa Clause possibly destroying christmas.)
5. Hades (comical, talks like a cars salesman but can conquer the cosmos. sounds good to me)
6. chernabog (he shoots fire, is a giant, has super cool bat wings, and is made of STONE!)
7. Scar (same reason as you)
8. Jafar (killed and deceived millions to rule agrabah, then saw that was lame and decided to become an all mighty genie to rule the cosmos)
9. clayton. (killed many people and gorrilas just cause he wanted to hunt and he wanted money. i think of him as someone who gave into his sins)
10. barbossa. (cursed with Immortality and wants to get rid of it. not only that but he has some epic lines. oh and he is a freaking pirate!!)
there's mine. again, pretty similar

Ever notice how similar the Huns from Mulan are to the Uruk-Hai from The Lord of the Rings? In the first LOTR film Aragorn's fight with Lurtz (The captain of the Uruks) bears a striking resemblance to Captain Shang's fight with Shan Yu. Do you think Peter Jackson was influenced by Mulan?
Tolkien describes Orcs explicitly in one of his Letters:
...they are (or were) squat, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes; in fact degraded and repulsive versions of the (to Europeans) least lovely Mongol-types.
Not very politically correct, but interesting. It has been speculated that Tolkien based the Orcs on the huns.

Besides, I think most of it is muscle anyway. I mean, why else would Square Enix add him in KH2 as one of the bosses?
