In Brisbane, 5 minutes from the CBD. There is a colony of perhaps 20000 there. They roost during the day so are easy to see and photograph. Google translation: Brisbane'de, MİA'dan 5 dakika. Orada belki 20000 kolonisi var. Gün boyunca tüneklenirler, bu yüzden görmek ve fotoğraflamak kolaydır.

Maybe the size of a small cat with a wingspan of about 3 feet. They are only eat fruit so are harmless unless they bite you because they carry a virus called Lissa Virus. They are best left alone. They are quite cute when they wake up. They are noisy and if you happen to be standing under a tree they are in they can shit on you which is pretty disgusting given their diet. If they shit on your car it will mark the paint unless you get it off quick. Mostly people don't park under fig trees.

Our bats eat bugs and mosquitoes.. And are only as big as your hand.... I thing you can keep those big ones over there in Australia.

We are not good judges of our own work so we should not make comparisons. I remember the picture. They do look the same. I suppose they are related. They are very common all over Queensland. This colony is only about 2 kilometres from the CBD. They roost over a creek and the walk bridge there provides an access point to them.  Cheers Katy.    Kerry

Technically they are flying foxes but they are member of the bat family. They are bit larger than a squirrel (I guess) in the body. Just as well they eat fruit and are not blood suckers.  Kerry
