Anyway this young lady will be an important character in Nzuri's reign, when we get trough the flashback. Her name is Maji.

She is the daughter of Zuri and Kion. Her parents fell in love as young adults and had a cub, without really getting to know each other enough. Kion was way too free spirited and easy going for uptight and neat Zuri, who became very needy and compleining. As time went by they distanced even more, argued a lot and went for long periods without talking to each other.
Kion did try to fix things for his little daughter, without any help from his mate. After one of their most agressive fights, Kion threatened to leave the Pridelands, leading to Zuri's sweet revenge. A cub. Fathered by a rogue. Kion was devasted and heart-broken, deciding to leave the pride. He thought his little girl would be better of without a father than with two fighting parents. At least she'd still have her lovely grandparents and her aunts family and cousins.
Zuri was terribly ashamed by being left by the prince and she couldn't bare to see his family everyday. Plus Zuri never saw eye to eye with Kovu, and Kiara didn't seem to apperiacate the trick she pulled with the rogue. Pregnant Zuri left the Priderock with her young cub. They stayed in the edges of the Pridelands, close to the outlands that were no longer dangerous after the Prides had united. Zuri had to learn to hunt even though she hated it. When her pregnancy was becoming to the ending side, her old best friend Tiifu started to hunt for her.
As the first borns matured, the future king Nzuri, for much of his fathers disliking started to bond with Maji...
