"Hey, sleepyheads! You're laggin' behind!"

Mari spun around, waving towards her friends, completely unfased by Ayumi and Tammy's inability to keep up her pace. The girls did their best to at least not get left behind - but in vain. Ayumi felt her heart pounding frantically, and Tammy had to lean against a nearby tree to catch breath. Were they so pitifully weak, or was Mari some kind of jogging bot?

"I'm done for" Ayumi sighed, stopping and sitting (more like: almost falling) onto the lawn. Red on her face, she tried to steady her breath and heart. Seeing this, Tammana made a few steps and laid down next to her friend. Mari ran back towards them, staring in a mix of disbelief and disappointment.

"Oh c'mon! It's only been, like, four kilometres!" she kept pacing in place, making Tammy feel dizzy "We still have twice as much to go!"

"You're joking, right?" Ayumi replied weakly "I feel like I was about to melt..."

"All right, all right" resigned, Mari sat next to Tammy, taking a sip of water from a bottle. "We can take a break. But don't think I'm gonna let you go so easily!"

She ticked Tammana's exposed belly, making the Hindu girl jolt and squeal. The gap between her red top and matching shorts was large enough for Mari to use both hands. Tammy was quick to retaliate - and after a short while, the two girls were rolling on the grass, locked in a fight for laugh and death.

A bit startled, Ayumi rolled to the side, moving out of the ticking storm's way. She watched the two girls struggle for a while; the apex came when Mari took off Tammana's shoe and started frantically tickle her sole, making the Hindu girl beg for mercy. This has proven to be a tactical trick however - and as soon as Mari loosened her grip, Tammy used her height to overpower the opponent, pinning her to the ground and reaching for her armpits.

"There they go again..." Ayumi sighed, watching the melee progress. Ever since that incident with "strange" tea, Tammy and Mari became close friends. Not that she complained... But they could be awfully loud as well at times. Well, better this than...

Her thoughts were interrupted by a strange bump she felt under her bottom. Reaching for it, she discovered a small pebble. Upon closer examination, she noticed it had a very colourful surface - almost like a marble, but without the spherical shape. She rolled it for a while, observing sunlight reflecting off the smooth surface.

"Whatcha got?" Mari sprung up, accepting her defeat on Tammy's hands.

"Don't really know... Must be some stone, but I've never seen anything like..."

"Hey, what's that spark?" Mari pointed to what seemed to be an unusually bright reflection... Except it kept stationary, despite Ayumi rolling the pebble in her fingers. It was almost like there was... Something glowing inside?

"Hey, help me find my shoe!" Tammy's upset voice interrupted their observations. The Hindu girl was crawling in high grass, evidently irritated. "Good job Mari, I hope I won't have to return home barefoot..."

Suddenly, a bright flash came out of Ai's hand. She turned her head - but before she could have discerned anything, a strange force pulled the pebble out of her palm and pushed her back, onto the grass...

A bright flash in the middle of a sunny day is a very peculiar sight, but Tammana had no time to reflect on it. A sudden push threw her forward - she flew over her shoe (there it was!) and landed face-forward in grass. Furious, she rose up to her feet, turning around.

"What the he-"

Behind her (and anywhere around), the park was replaced by a jungle of green skyscrapers. A monstrous creature was sitting on one of them, leering at her with its alien eye. Before terrified Tammy could utter anything, it jumped skywards, leaving her field of view. Terrified, the girl took a step back - only to fall knee-deep into some tiny hole. This time she screamed with full force and darted blindly forward. She didn't even notice when her second shoe came off.

When Ai regained sight, she needed a while to collect her thoughts. Above her was the blue sky, with white clouds lazily flying. Somewhere below were the trees. Finally, right above her head, blades of grass swung in the calm breeze.

She darted upwards, her head barely above the lawn when she stood up. It was a very weird feeling - she has shrunken, but somehow... Less than the last two times. At least, she was as tall as the grass, which means... Ten centimetres?

"Well, that's pretty nice" she thought to herself. "At least I should be able to find the girls..."

Suddenly she saw a grasshopper jump away a few metres from her, landing just by her and then dart away, further from the pathway. The insect looked almost like some weird mecha from Nastia's favourite anime - seeing it jump so high and fast was almost unnatural.

Her bewilderment, however, was interrupted by a squeaky scream coming from somewhere behind her. She turned round - and saw one of the weirdest sights of her life.

Barefoot, ant-sized Tammy sprinted from between the blades of grass, wild frenzy in her eyes and her suit dirty and torn. She was sprinting towards her blindly.

"Tam- Tammy!" She tried to get her attention, but in vain. She dropped to her knee and extended her arm, putting hand palm-up on the ground. Tammy blindly ran into the "trap" - and Ai pick her up, cupping her second hand around. The Hindu girl started screaming and trashing around, like a scared animal in cage.

"Hush... Hush... Tammy, it's me!" She spoke softly, trying to calm her friend down. After a while, the trashing inside lost momentum - and after another while, a faint voice came out of Ai's cupped hands:

"Ai? Is that you?"

"Yes, you silly" Ai giggled, lifting her hand and seeing tiny Tammy squirming in the middle of her palm.

"I-I'm not silly! I... I just"

"I know, I know" Ai's amusement quickly faded in the face of their situation. "We must find Mari and somehow return to normal... Again"

"J-just don't put me down, OK?"

"And where am I supposed to hold you then? I don't have your cleavage, and..."

"Please, may be even your back pocket, just don't put me down!"

"Oh-kay..." Ayumi carefully dropped Tammana to the only possible hiding place - which was indeed a tiny pocket in the back of her shorts. Her tiny friend squirmed a while, but finally calmed. It was kinda like a key pendant. Oh, Ardis is gonna have a laugh upon hearing this...

The overpowering mixture of sweat, fabric and Ai's body engulfed Tammana, almost knocking her unconscious. Uncomfortable as it was, at least it gave her a sense of security. Well, at least until Ai doesn't forget about her and tries to sit...

Mari was definitely not on the pathway - at least from what Ai could have seen. On the other hand, her height posed a problem - what if someone noticed them, someone with not so clear intentions? Truth being said, there was only one person in sight - some redheaded tomboy practicing with a bokken - but she was too far away to reach quickly. Besides, who could guarantee that was a good idea?

She ducked, hiding beneath the canopy of grass. She felt Tammy's body pressed against her bottom.

"You all right?"

"Yeah... Just please, make it quick..."

Luckily, the strange force did not knock Mari far away. She found her unconscious body after half an hour, lying at the feet of a small bush. The shrinking was not as strong as in Tammy's case - she was around one third of Ayumi's size. The only problem was that she must have hit her head or something... But at least she was OK and woke up after a while of gentle shaking.

"W-what happened? Where are we?"

"Still in the park"

"Oh dammit..." Mari sat up, rubbing the back of her head and a bit confused "And where's Tammy?"

"Safe..." the tiny figurine in her pocket moved a bit, as if trying to reassure her. "More importantly, I think I know how to reverse this, so..."

A low, rumbling sound drowned out her voice. Ayumi looked up - the sky was getting darker. It took her a second to comprehend what was happening. And then came a flash of lightning.

Grabbing Mari, she headed in the only direction she was capable of thinking of - deeper beneath the bush. The first drops of water fell around like aircraft bombs, bending the grass and smashing into dry soil with loud thuds. Luckily, the bush offered some protection. But if the rain intensified...

Luckily, there was an empty bag of chips laying just by the bush's trunk. For the first time ever, Ayumi was happy to see some trash in the park. Crouching by the aluminium cave, she produced Tammy out of her pocket and put her inside.

"Get inside too, Mari" unfortunately, she was too large to fit it. But at least her friends were safe... She sat down, feeling moist soil wetting the bottom of her trousers.

"What now?" Tammy's squeaky voice came from below.

"I have an idea" Ayumi rose back to her feet, a determined expression on her face. "You just wait and stay safe."

"Wow" muttered Mari, seeing the Japanese girl head back into the intensifying rain. "I never thought Ai could be... So tough and cool"

"Yeah, she has her moments" Tammy smirked, making herself comfortable in the bag's cavity. "You'd be surprised how determined she is when she wants something"

"Guess so"

"Tell ya what... It's kinda unfair"

"What do you mean?" Mari was totally taken aback by Tammy's accusation.

"First you drag us into this jogging session..."

"Actually...-"

"Then you start tickling me out of nowhere AGAIN..."

"Shouldn't have...-"

"And finally I end up the smallest, even tough karma should get you first. Where's justice in this, I ask?"

Mari blinked twice, surprised by her friend's nerve. Finally she regains composure.

"You little..." she giggled, realising the joke she had just said. She grabbed Tammy by her armpits and rose her up like a doll. "Better apologise, or you'll see that a tickle torture is!"

"C'mon, leave me be!" Tammy started kicking in the air, trying to reach Mari (who was just outside her range, for the record). "I just..."

Suddenly their hideout shifted slightly, making Mari release Tammy. A strange noise was audible from the outside. It moved towards the entrance - and after a short while, they could have seen its source.

"Oh God please, no..."

Even though the ground was slowly turning into a dirty swamp and the drops of water pounded around as bombs, Ayumi advanced towards the place she thought the pebble flew away. Even after scoring a direct headshot, she just shrug it off and kept going.

It took her a longer while, but she ultimately managed to find it; half dug in wet dirt, the pebble was there. It was hard to tell for sure - but Ayumi was almost sure it gained a couple of bulges here and there.

Since Ardis moved in, she told her a handful of tips regarding such magical stuff. Half of it was too complicated for Ardis to explain clearly (her parents would be far more competent, as she herself admitted), but the other half was rather clear; spells were reversible, and if caused by an item - it was that item that should be used to reverse the effect. So...

"Now what to do with you, little stone...?" pondered Ayumi. Seeing no better option, she extended her hand, touching the colourful surface. A bright light erupted from beneath her palm...

The source of the noise turned out to be a rodent - a mouse or vole, as far as Tammana would know. It didn't really matter - it was a size of dinosaur... And apparently hungry.

The creature sniffed around frenzily, making its way into the aluminium cavern. Scared to the bone, Tammana crawled backwards - but the beast was just too fast. In a few seconds it was already above her, black eyes fixed upon the tiny prey below...

"LEAVE HER ALONE!!!"

With a straight punch, Mari forced the rodent back, putting herself between the two. Seeing a girl roughly her size, the animal backed off a few steps, carefully examining the situation. Tammana watched the two engage in a struggle of willpower. Just as the rodent made up its mind and bared its teeth, something unexpected happened...

Through the rain, she saw a flicker of light far away - and suddenly, some force started expanding her body in all directions. Same happened to Mari - for a brief moment, she felt herself wedged between the aluminium bag and her friend's body, after which their cover ripped, torn into pieces. The tiny animal fled into the wild, nowhere to be seen.

Instead, she could see Ayumi, sitting on a lawn a few dozen metres away, waving towards them. They all stood up - and after a while were hugging together, cheering and delighting over their lucky escape.

"So, are we going to finish the jog?" Mari grinned, pointing in the direction they had been running "We're only halfway there!"

"You're joking, right?" Angered, Tammy stomped her bare foot "You just threw out my shoes, you know!"

"Oh, tough luck" Mari tilted her head, poking Tammy's midriff "If you weren't so fat, we might have carried you... Or maybe there are other ways? Still got that pebble thing anywhere, Ai?"

"You little..." Angered, Tammy tried to catch the culprit, but the girl swiftly slipped away and started running.

"Catch me if you can!"

"Oh gosh..." Sighed Ayumi, smiling. Was there any way this two would stop teasing each other?
