"No, jump good." Mario replied, before grabbing the axe, preparing the cut off the chain.
TO BE CONTINUED "w-why doesn't bowser just grab the axe and cut it when mario's there?"
Mario's "super power" is that he can jump good, no one else can replicate him, except Luigi.
So Bowser didn't know that Mario could just jump over him.
