In celebration of the season, I started the month off with a Christmas piece featuring my lovely little bunnies. Rufus quite literally looking like a little snow bunny in his fur. Eheh. About to kiss, or just pulling away ... tis up to the viewer. It was fun to draw these two again, as I haven't drawn them since May 7th. x_xThe background was particularly fun -- and easy as all hell, in fact this entire piece didn't take too terribly long. There's nothing I love more than skylines at night -- skylines at twilight are a close second -- and simply had to take advantage of the fact that Midgar has any number of towering buildings. I love the Upper Plate ... Advent Children depresses me. Also, take not of the small 'Merry Christmas' written in neon lights atop a building, as well as the scaffolding holding it in place. I thought it was a nice, subtle little touch and very befitting of Midgar. -laughs- Tacky neon lights.

Advent Children depressed me as well, I loved the "Plate" and the "Slums" idea...I put it into my stories quite often.

-eyetwitch- Please, for everyone's sake don't mention Reno. I love him ... with Rude, and well after having another piece of mine ripped and traced with the insertation of Reno instead of Tseng, the mere mention of him makes me twitchy. -laughs-

But yeah, it's quite gorgeous, even with the rather "dull" Midgar backdrop--those snowflakes and tacky neon lights do something for the scenery. Oh, and Rufus' white and Tseng's black? While it could be "obvious", since that's their general colour scheme, it's just so right for those two and very complimenting. I'm really digging the way Tseng's hair is spilling over in the direction is head is facing too--there's even whisps, which seems to give a sense that there's a slight wintry breeze about and he's leaning closer to Rufus for some warmth (or you know, he's just claiming that there's a breeze 
Ah, and might I add that these are the best profiles I've seen you do to date?
Okay, basically, I can sum it up to this: Wonderful job--definitely puts me in the mood for the holiday.

Yeah, I'm kind of shocked that I actually got it done this early ... last year I was drawing it on Christmas Eve.
Thanks. I think a lot of people underestimate simple backgrounds. And I like keeping them true to their colours. Rufus would definitely be the fur type, where as I think Tseng would stick to a wool overcoat -- Crystal and I have discussed this, 'cos we're dorks. Blue works so much better for white, I think. Grey based white always irks me a little ... also my screen is naturally bluer than most monitors, so that just has lead me to lean toward blue-based colours, 'cos I figure if it looks blue on my screen, it'll look the colour I want it to on other screens.

I'm totally supposed to be posting for Tseng in one of my RPs right now, but, uh... you can blame it on the girl that plays Rufus. She linked me, and she knows I can't resist your work. ... Also, I'm not stalking you. *Cough.* But~! I do agree that Tseng has gotten increasingly lovelier since your earlier work. You really have gotten a lot better, and you were good to begin with, so... kudos.

Oo ... you RP Tseng? I RP Rufus ... in fact, he's the only character I really ever RP any longer. Glad you like it. It means a lot when fellow fans of the pairing enjoy my artwork.
And yes, Tseng has improved. It's subtle changes ... he's so gorgeous now. Rufus is his petulant, delicate self ... Tseng just keeps getting sexier. It's because I personally find Tseng to be the hottest thing ever ... eheh.

Tseng's amazing. I never really took a big interest in him when playing the game, but these days, I just can't stop exploring his dynamics. It helps that he's drop-dead gorgeous, of course. I actually didn't pick up Tseng until a few months ago, but he's quickly become a regular and a favourite (though my Kadaj-baby still holds onto his top spot). Lately, Tseng's been an acupuncturist in his spare time, which has our current Rufus a little spooked -- he's apparently not a huge fan of needles. Go figure.
I've always been a fan of the pairing, too; it's one of the very few pairings I ever care to see involving Rufus. The other one involves Elena, but that pairing's tentative and highly dependent on the portrayal of Elena. Alternate Tseng pairings are even fewer: only Scarlet. Yeah, weird, I know. It worked. ... Only once, so far. Because Tseng's way too gay for it to work again, I think.

Oh, jeez. I'm actually really glad you're not mad that your artwork was snagged for that without your permission. Although, it's not like we're distributing it, either. I'm sure Grace (the Rufus to my Tseng) wouldn't mind if you took that (or any of the other ones she made from your art) -- she's the one who made them, and she loves your work as much as I do.

Mhm, I love their lips in this piece ... mostly because I think they've just pulled away from a kiss.
And yes, I wanted some way of putting 'Merry Christmas' in the picture without blatantly writing it somewhere. Then I thought of the tacky neon lights that all too often disrupt an otherwise lovely twinkling skyline.

Hehe, I should tell you about the ShinRa guinea pigs at PetsMart ... there was this hyper little red and white one that was running around the cage -- that was Reno -- and this grey one that was chilling in the corner -- Rude -- a black one that was checking out everything -- Tseng -- and then this fluffy, white one comes out of one of the igloos, stumbling around in this daze like it had just been fucked senseless -- Rufus. I want to buy them. Alas, my kitty would have the Rufus one for lunch, and then Tseng would have to commit seppukku. >_>

Yeah, no one draws Tseng ... aside from maybe two or three Japanese fanartists I'm the only person drawing TsengxRufus -- odd, since it's the most popular ShinRa pairing in Japan.
I write TsengxRufus, actually. The pairing works very well, more so than most pairings that involve Rufus. It takes a certain art to it. I believe it was a gradual thing with them, both trying to come to terms with the concept of being together all the while keeping it hidden from the rest of ShinRa and the world, though I don't believe it took longer than a year at most. I think Rufus would want to be submissive to Tseng not only because he's obviously younger, but also the fact that in public view Rufus is always in control. He'd want to give that up in bed, and Tseng's more than willing to take Rufus and fuck him into oblivion. Eheh. I could really write an essay on why TsengxRufus works beautifully. I think here RenoxRufus or RufusxReno is more popular. (but i think TsengxRufus has more meaning than anything with Reno.)
I agree. All those years as a bodyguard must've triggered something. That boy must've been adorable as a child, then a teen, and so on. If I were Tseng I'd kill myself knowing I couldn't have that right away. I've seen Rufus depicted in many ways in fics; childish, bitchy, serious, etc. He's very bipolar and unbalanced, but to me, I think he would be more childish younger. Then as he grows he would realize some responsiblities, trying to surpass his father like any kid his age, but then matures over the years while he's alone. In AC I think he matured a lot. Still manipulative and sarcastic, but seeing the stunt he pulled off later in the movie (which is so deja vu..fearless bastard) you can tell he still likes playing around (in a fucked up way) XD oh I'd love to hear you go on. I would, too! Kitty (her DA name is so long i can't remember it anymore) got me into RPing Rufus for a while now, though I still won't give in to her love for Reno much.
Oh I know it's fur! It looks like fur, I didn't mean to say it as if it weren't. Just a joke that it would be chocobo feathers. Fur for the rich, of course.

In the States, Reno is everyone's whore. It's led me to really loathe him as a character ... especially after AC literally made RudexReno canon and people are still insisting he's with Rufus only because, 'OMG! It's pretty! They must be together!' God, don't get me started on how very much I loathe that pairing.
If you're referring to =faeriekitty , she and I are close friends ... she doesn't even like RufusxReno, RenoxRufus any longer. Much of the same things that made me hate Reno, have made her dislike him ... of course, that didn't stop us from taking a very wrong RenoxRufus picture at Nekocon. Eheh.
