szé!

I'm trying to get some HDR photos working, but I guess I just haven't dedicated myself to it.

That makes sense, HDR can sometimes be very controversial, one part of people love it, while the others hate it from their hearts, which is I think pretty senseless, cause there are a huge variety of HDR techniques. Actually many of my deviations are HDR in a way, cause I usually use multiple exposures and then mask them in PS. Other times I just feel like creating a surreal, photomanip-like atmosphere, then I come out with something like these: :thumb134961139: :thumb131867657: I think you should give it a try, I think some of your waterscapes are begging for a subtle touch of HDR Let me know if you've tried it

I was just about to say "It's unfortunate that there isn't much water around where I live", but then I realized that I live 5 minutes drive away from a river!

Some days I wonder about myself, lol!

LOL, that's funny, but sometimes it happens to me too Last time when I bought the ND400 filter, I was searching for a waterfall around me, and finally I said: 'Okay, there's nothing to do, there are no waterfalls in Budapest.' A couple of days later I realized that there's a waterfall that I pass t w i c e every single day, it's on the slopes of a mountain that is right beside my university

HDR stands for high digital range, which means that this technic allows you to cover a wider range of shades on the image, the viewer can see the darker areas as detailed as the lighter parts, which would not be possible with only one shot, so for a real HDR, you need to settle your camera on a tripod and take at least 3 shots (one over and one underexposed besides the 'normal' one), the more exposures you take, the more detailed your HDR image will become actually I'm not a fan of this technic, but sometimes it can be quite useful to give your image the look you desire

OO wow thats neat. Learn something new I was thinking of getting a fairly decent camera.. still undecided yet. WE have a lot of old spanish missions over here. Plus my digital camera is old and out dated. The quality sucks on it. Time to retire him

Sorry for the late answer, but I was on holiday in Sweden and didn't really have access to the net. I wish you many strength for choosing your camera, and if I can give you a piece of advice, consider EVERYTHING before you decide at a certain type, if you need my opinion, I can help you too, because last December, when I bought my SLR, I made a wrong decision and it took a long time to sell the old cam and buy the new type, and I lost a lot of money with that, so you need to be very careful! I didn't wanna scare you from buying one, I just thought it's good for you to know, sorry if it was unnecessary

thanks a lot, I took it on Christmas day, the site was about 5 km far from my town, I had to fight hard with the elements to get there (there was massive mud everywhere as you can see on the road, I couldn't even take the car, I had to walk that far ^^)

DFRighini In reply to knifeofdreams [2009-03-03 08:42:01 +0000 UTC]

That mud would swallow a car up whole. We have some old byways (roads) like this in Britain, with lots of mud, and have been around since before Romano British times! Artists should suffer for there work! )))
