HOLY PUCKOO, THIS TOOK WAY TOO LONG TO MAKE.

The sun rises in Shay's room... today was an important day, measure day! Or well, not too much excitement there... As wyngro's grow and soon become adult, it lies in Dr. F's interest to measure the wyngro's to see if they are at a healthy stage before reaching adulthood. A final check before a wyngro will undergo its biggest transformation. It sounds very exciting, but trust Shay, it's not.

Shay wakes up accompanied by his very close friend, Gabu. They didn't have the best day preceedingly however, as Shay got very nervous about his changes... a sudden wing growth on his arms, a horn growing on his snout, all too much for this little rascal. To his belief, it is a wyngling's behavior that determines what upgrades he would get... or at least, so he read in a book. If you are a nice and kind wyngro, beautiful feathered wings will grow on your back. The poor wyngro thought that leather wings were the exact opposite, and had no clue why he was getting the traits a beast would get. It drove him crazy... only for his very close, or rather, brother Gabu to be his comforting support.

Shay deliberately slept much longer than needed... nonetheless, he was tired from the restless night, but luckily not to thank for nightmares about his encounter with Sheke from many nights ago. Maybe he finally made peace with it? But the rest was soon disturbed as, only just when the two were awake, Miss Alma stormed into the room in a mighty rage. She was very upset on Shay how he is late for getting a health check at Dr. F, and hasn't even cleaned yet!

The cheeky Gabu likes bath time, and could come too to the health check. Miss Alma agreed, thinking maybe Shay needed a little support, but it took a lot of effort to actually get him into the bath... the poor Shay absolutely hates getting a bath. Or well, not just bath's, also rain... canals... basicly water in general. Shay's greatest struggle was not the measure day, it was the step that came before it... But finally, after some time, Shay was finally cleaned up and ready for measure day, and so both Gabu and Shay went towards the infirmary where Dr. F was already measuring some other wyngro, with some voluntary assitance of Dink. Trying to keep little rascals in line was a very demanding job, one Dr. F really could use some assistance with whilst trying to measure them. It took a bit of waiting, several other wynglings were also in line for getting measured, until it was finally Shay's turn.

"All right, Shay. Before going ahead, let's put you on this table." Dr. F says as he lifts up Shay and puts him on a small table. It took him a little time of inspection before he finally said something. "Hmmm, you're very near growing up already, I can even see from your muscles what you'll become!" Dr. F says, trying to build some excitement. Logically, he was proficient enough to know this for a while, but likes to be the impressive doctor to his precious wynglings.
"W-what will I become then? P-please let it be a quad! Then Aurin and I can play together as two quads!" Shay says excited.
"Are you sure you want me to spoil the surprise for you?" Dr. F says, to which Shay give a very sound agreement. "Hmm..." Dr. F says as he shakes his head. "I'm afraid that wish won't be fulfilled. You'll be a fine bipedal wyngro, Shay." He says.
"O-oh... come on... I w-wanted to be a quad!" Shay says in disappointment.
"Some things are just not within our power, little Shay. But... surely that doesn't mean you can't play with your friends! I've seen just enough bipedal wyngro's playing with quads after growing up!" He says as he lifts Shay off the table. "Anyway, please come with me to the wall, then Dink and I will measure how tall you've grown. You should be able to stand on two legs for a while now." Dr. F says and Shay tries as asked. Surprisingly, it goes with ease.
"Mmmhmm... No Shay, you can't use your ears to fool us" Dr. F says as he laughs of the done effort. "Let's see... aha! 1 meter 20 already! A little above avarage, but you seem to be in fine condition as well." Dr. F stated. "Shay, could you please take place as the rest will be meassured?" He requests and Shay has done as asked.

The day passes by and, as all wynglings were measured, Dr. F stops Shay from leaving. "Shay, please come with me for a minute." He says. Was something wrong?
"W-what is wrong Dr. F?" Shay asks, a bit nervous.
"I... you might best make yourself a bit more comfortable for this." Dr. F continued... This is serious...

"Shay... I've been trying to puzzle you out for a while now. Your recent fights with some other wynglings... Bird, Kiki, they both noticed something very abnormal. So, I decided to do a little research on this, and..." Dr. F says and shows a picture of two wyngro's. One seems to be running, and one seems to be fighting.
"W-what is this about...?" Shay looks. The atmosphere has gone from pleasureable to deadly serious.
"You see, when a wyngro is subject to a state of mental or physical distress, it goes into a state of 'Fight or Flight'. This state on itself is very normal, it's just instinct... it makes us decide what to do in a complicated situation. However, two and the only two occasions this state should've occurred to you, it showed a very abnormal situation... both report you suddenly became completely unaware and unresponsive, while you continued... mauling... them. This was very frightening to see, so I needed to know more about this... and it appears there is a mental condition named Prima et Mentis, a 'primal mind' so to say." Dr. F tries to explain.
"Primal mind...? W-what has this to do with anything?" Shay says confused.
"Primal mind means, your instincts tend to kick in much fiercer than they would on a normal wyngro. In the prior cases, it happens when you are fighting somebody. Tell me, Shay... has this had to do anything with your misfortunate nightly escape with Cream?" Dr. F, and Shay shook his head. "Regardless... this is a serious condition. Anything stressfull or confronting can trigger this. At least, until you've grown much older to suppress that instinct." He says as he takes a deep sigh.

"For this reason, I'm unfortunate to say that Zagor and I do not recommend you to learn magic at school."

"We just can't afford the risk."
